About Winery and Wines

Bodegas Bentomiz is a boutique winery in Malaga’s hills within sight of the Mediterranean sea. In this beautiful location our 80 to 100 year-old vines flourish in slate soils, benefitting cooling sea breezes. With a combination of modern and traditional vinification techniques we produce a range of fresh and delicate wines. The winery has been developed since 2004 by Clara Verheij (our enologist) and André Both (our chef) and produces a varied range of wines. We opened the restaurant in 2015 to showcase the pairing possibilities, designing each dish to match one of our wines in perfect combination. Clara and André share a passion for the wine and gastronomy, and Málaga,  that they and their staff, love to share. 

We produce a varied range of 11 wines, red, white and rosé, dry and sweet, still and sparkling - but all share a subtlety and freshness that we love. 

The Ariyanas wines are derived from exclusively Málagueño grapes. Like our winery name Bentomiz, Ariyanas is an ancient local place name; it was the name of a Moorish hamlet that was next to our vineyard before the Reconquest. The word comes from the Arabic for “aromatic” – very appropriate! We have expanded the range with two new wines, PiXel and Rayya. And in collaboration with Lobban Wines of Barcelona we produce three quality sparkling wines, two whites, and a rosé: definitely something to celebrate!
