Among the lush hills covered of Salaparuta with a green blanket, given by the fabulous vineyard plantings that cover almost the entire territory, the Cantina Giacco was born.

It was born not by chance, and with the desire to follow the ancient tradition started by the citizens of Salaparuta way back in 1824, producing an excellent wine.

Despite the rich production of fine grapes, trade was not easy, until in 1977, capable of making high quality grapes into wine and also taking care of their marketing. It was in 1977 that the first winemaking took place, obtained in the Contrada Giacco, then owned by Stillone Nunzio, and from which the winery takes its name.

Among the lush hills covered with a green blanket, given by the fabulous vineyard plantings that cover almost the entire territory, the Giacco Winery was born. It was born not by chance, and with the desire to follow the ancient tradition started by the citizens of Salaparuta way back in 1824, producing an excellent wine.

And in the early 1980s the Cantina Giacco moved and settled permanently in the old center of Salaparuta, destroyed by the 1968 earthquake, and more precisely in Contrada Cappuccini, where Villa Amalia once stood. Inside the cellar there remain traces of the Villa, in particular a stone sculpture.

The legend... Around Villa Amalia the heroic deeds of a warrior in love with the beauty of the Belice Valley area were told. The Warrior spends his life in the small countryside of Belicino, then, when old age looms, he recognizes that the only way to remain eternal is to be depicted in a stone, so as to monitor the beauty of the area. His image is carved on a stone and is still present inside the cellar today. Thanks to his perfect preservation the Warrior, whose name is Neklite, still lives.

Over time, Cantina Giacco adapts to the various market needs to satisfy the demands of the final consumer, trying to constantly improve itself, equipping itself with cutting-edge equipment and systems. After a phase of processing bulk products, in the early 1990s the bottling of own-produced wines also began:

Vigna del Principe, since it was the first grape from the Vigna del Principe district to be destined for the bottle;
Villa Amalia, in memory of the ancient villa where the cellar stands today;
Neklite, the latest label in honor of our warrior.
Currently in the winery they deliver grapes whose plants fall in the municipalities of Salaparuta, Poggioreale, Gibellina
