About Winery and Wines
Oltrealmare Winery is rooted in tradition and sustainability, born from the recovery of land that had been abandoned for over 30 years. Nestled in the picturesque hills of Liguria, our family has cultivated 1,500 ancient olive trees to produce the famed Taggiasca DOP extra virgin olive oil. Our journey expanded to viticulture with the discovery of ancient vines, where we now nurture the Pigato grape, a Ligurian native. Visitors to our winery can immerse themselves in the serene landscape, explore the terraced vineyards, and experience our commitment to preserving this unique territory's heritage. Every aspect of our farming is done with care for the land and a deep respect for nature, offering a truly authentic experience for wine lovers and travelers alike.
Our pride lies in the Pigato, a historic grape variety from western Liguria. Pigato, whose name means "spotted" in the local dialect, produces golden grapes with characteristic brown speckles. This results in a wine that offers a fresh and fragrant bouquet with floral notes, embodying the aromatic essence of the Mediterranean. Its light, crisp profile pairs beautifully with seafood and traditional Ligurian dishes, capturing the flavors of the region in every sip.
