Meritxell Pallejà

Winery in Priorat, Catalonia

About the Winery

Nita Winery is deeply rooted in the rich soils of Priorat, where the essence of terroir is woven into every bottle. The winery operates on five estates, each featuring the region’s signature slate-based soil, known as licorella. This unique soil structure forces the roots to penetrate deep into the earth, resulting in small but highly expressive grape yields. Guided by sustainable practices, Nita Winery honors ancient traditions, following lunar cycles for everything from pruning to harvesting. The team, led by Meritxell Garden, strives to craft wines that reflect the rugged, mineral-rich landscape. Every bottle tells the story of the land, offering a sensory journey into the Priorat region.

About the Wines

Nita Winery produces wines that embody the spirit of Priorat. The flagship wine, Nita, is a youthful expression of the region, made from grapes grown in a variety of soils across different villages. Another standout is Magran, a 100% Grenache from the Partida Les Manyetes estate, reflecting the terroir with authenticity and depth. A more traditional offering is the rancid wine, made from grandfather Micola's Grenache grapes and aged through a centuries-old method. This wine is sun-soaked and barrel-aged, blending vintages in a process that yields a unique, time-honored taste.

These wines are clean, rounded, and transport the drinker straight to the vineyards of Priorat, embodying the heritage and hard work that goes into their creation.

Very friendly, good wines
When you are in front of the address you almost can't believe this is a cellar. It is a normal village house with a larger door. The installation is small, cosy. The owner and wine maker is a nice lady that explains in an attaching way how she became a wine maker. She has a small but nice selection of good wines in a price range going from 15 to 50 euros. The wines are quite different in taste from what you get usually in that region. We bought several bottles of her collection.
We saw 2 nice restaurants in the village.
Improve the exterior of the cellar so it's easier to find

Hello Stefan! I am absolutely thrilled to read your words. It is a true pleasure for me to open the doors of our home and share, in such an intimate way, how I started out in this world of winemaking. Knowing that you found our wines unique and that you left with several bottles of our collection is the ultimate reward. You are completely right about the storefront! We like to preserve the essence of a traditional village house, but we will improve the signage so you can find us easily next time. Thank you as well for recommending our village's local restaurants. See you soon!

A wonderful wine experience
We just wanted a tasting and not a full tour. This was perfect. Informative, and a brief discussion ?with the wine maker, Meritxell, on each of six wines. Also includes cheese and sticks.

Moltes gràcies per la resenya, ens adaptem al que el client vol generalment, el tast és versàtil i les converses han de fluir.
