Château du Moulin-à-Vent
About the Winery
Château du Moulin-à-Vent is a historic wine estate founded in 1732, located in the heart of the prestigious Moulin-à-Vent appellation in Northern Beaujolais. Surrounded by vineyards, the château overlooks the emblematic Thorins terroir, one of the area’s most renowned sites.
The estate is led by Édouard and Brice, who have brought Château du Moulin-à-Vent back to the forefront through patience, passion, and a strong belief in the great potential of this appellation. Their work focuses on producing elegant, expressive wines while shaping the future of the vineyard with care and precision.
The domaine’s old Gamay vines grow across a wide variety of terroirs, with granitic soils and unique natural conditions that give the wines depth, structure, and ageing potential. With its centuries-old cellar, historic vineyards, and refined tasting room set in a former chapel, Château du Moulin-à-Vent offers an authentic journey into one of Beaujolais’ most iconic estates.
About the Wines
The wines of Château du Moulin-à-Vent express the richness and diversity of the Moulin-à-Vent terroir. Produced from old Gamay vines, averaging around 50 years of age, the wines come from low-yielding vineyards planted on demanding granitic soils.
The estate produces several single-vineyard selections, each reflecting its own origin: Les Vérillats, known for charm and boldness; Champ de Cour, combining power and elegance; and La Rochelle, offering depth, complexity, and great ageing potential.
Alongside these, the château crafts rare micro-cuvées such as Clos de Londres and Grands Savarins, produced in very limited quantities from exceptional parcels. The range is completed by the estate’s blended cuvées, including the fresh and fruit-forward Couvent des Thorins and the structured, refined Château du Moulin-à-Vent, the domaine’s signature expression of a great Moulin-à-Vent vintage.
