Château Lapourcaud
About the Winery
Château Lapourcaud is a small, passion-driven vineyard with roots dating back to 1883. Revived in 2018 by its current owner, Vincent Gas.
The estate began producing wine again in 2020, bringing new life to a historic site.
Today, it remains a craft, small-scale project, guided by enthusiasm, authenticity, and a genuine love for winemaking.
Although still a personal venture, the winery warmly welcomes visitors who wish to discover its story.
Guests can explore the vineyard, learn about vine cultivation, and enjoy an intimate tasting experience, all in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
About the Wines
At Château Lapourcaud, we produce craft red wines made exclusively from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
The wines are characterized by their smooth, approachable style, with pleasant red fruit aromas and balanced structure.
Not overly powerful, they are designed to be versatile and enjoyable—perfect both on their own or paired with a wide range of dishes, from starters to dessert.
Each bottle reflects a hands-on approach and personal passion, offering a sincere and authentic expression of the vineyard.

An afternoon of tasting beneath the trees
Not to worry: in the château’s gardens, we sat beneath the trees and enjoyed a tasting of six different bottles, alongside a multitude of local cheeses, foie gras and magret de canard.
My personal favourite was Château Lapourcaud’s own 2023 blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, which was bright and light on its feet. But we also tasted Vincent’s brother’s white and red blends from just down the road, as well as some other wines from the local cooperative of which Château Lapourcaud is a member. If I could pick one tasting note that carried through every wine we tried, it would be: “peppery” – which says something about the region’s terroir.
I’m already a planning a second visit, and next time I hope it’ll be cool enough to do a little work in the vineyard!
Amazing wine tasting with atmosphere to match
In the summer, do a late tasting and have the snacks as dinner. It will be enough!
