Corte San Mattia
About the Winery
Nestled in the tranquil hills of San Mattia, just a stone's throw from the historic city of Verona, the Ederle family winery is a testament to passion, dedication, and a deep connection to the land. Founded by Giovanni Ederle, a visionary young winemaker who grew up amidst the vineyards and olive groves of Valpolicella, this boutique winery is the result of years of hard work and a lifelong dream. Giovanni began this journey at the tender age of 18, driven by an ambitious yet slightly reckless spirit. He personally uprooted old, unrecoverable vineyards and replanted new vines, nurturing them with care until they bore their first fruit.
Today, the winery is a thriving enterprise that blends traditional viticulture with modern techniques. The land itself, with its rich, fertile soils and favorable microclimate, is ideal for producing high-quality wines that capture the essence of the region. The hills of San Mattia, with their breathtaking views of Verona and the surrounding countryside, provide the perfect backdrop for a visit to this charming winery. Guests can immerse themselves in the serene beauty of the vineyards, learn about the meticulous care that goes into each phase of production, and experience the warmth and hospitality of the Ederle family.
The winery is also part of an agritourism project that offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience life on a working farm. Whether you’re exploring the vineyards, tasting the wines, or simply soaking in the peaceful ambiance of the countryside, a visit to the Ederle winery is an experience that touches the soul and leaves a lasting impression on all who pass through its doors.
About the Wines
At the heart of the Ederle winery’s production are wines that reflect the unique terroir of the San Mattia hills and the Ederle family’s commitment to quality and sustainability. The vineyards, cultivated using the French Guyot technique, are undergoing conversion to organic farming, a process that aligns with the winery’s dedication to preserving the natural environment. Giovanni Ederle oversees every aspect of vineyard management, from careful winter manuring using horse dung to precise pruning and defoliation practices that ensure the health and vitality of the vines.
The result is a selection of wines that are as expressive as they are refined. The winery’s portfolio includes a range of reds and whites, each crafted to highlight the characteristics of the local grape varieties and the unique microclimate of the region. The reds, in particular, showcase the robust flavors and deep colors that are hallmarks of Valpolicella wines, while the whites offer a crisp, refreshing contrast.
One of the standout practices at the Ederle winery is their attention to the "leaf wall," a meticulous process of topping and defoliation that helps to regulate moisture and prevent sunburn on the grapes. This technique, combined with the organic practices in the vineyard, results in wines that are both pure and balanced, with a true sense of place.
Each bottle of Ederle wine tells the story of the vineyard's journey from old vines to new beginnings, from the first experimental harvest to the carefully crafted wines that grace the tables of those fortunate enough to experience them. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or a curious traveler, the wines of the Ederle winery offer a true taste of the passion and perseverance that define this remarkable estate.

Highly recommended.
Super informative - perfect value for money
The tasting with a super panorama, a beautiful platter and a romantic and relaxing atmosphere.
The wines, as usual, depend on taste. We liked them and we also bought a case of Amarone and one of Pas Dosé.
A sensory experience for the whole family!

Overwhelming experience among the Veronese hills
Stunning view!
Relax and wine
Beautiful panorama, the platter of cured meats and cheeses was good, as were the wines we tried.
We will be back!
Simply perfect
The girl's explanation was a bit simple and simplistic compared to others.
Amazing!
The place is charming and the view over the city of Verona is a nice plus compared to other wineries.
The welcome was one of the best, the tour of the small but historic cellar was detailed for us by the guide, who proved to be knowledgeable and passionate.
The tasting of 5 glasses was accompanied by a good board of cured meats and cheeses and by a delicious homemade bread.
The wines were excellent, and so were the service and the view.
I would certainly recommend it!
