Masseria Fano Relais & Wine is nestled in the heart of Puglia, in a region renowned for its unique natural and scenic beauty. This charming estate, rooted in centuries-old agricultural traditions, offers a blend of refined hospitality and authentic experiences. The name "Fano" originates from the Latin "fanum," meaning "place of the gods," and reflects the estate's tranquil and timeless atmosphere.

The estate features eight rooms, five located within the courtyard and three inside the distinctive 16th-century Tower, built by the Gonzagas of Mantua. Among these, the Suite with sea view, housed in the Tower, stands out for its elegant design, sustainable materials, and a fireplace crafted from Lecce stone. A private terrace offers panoramic views of the sea, creating a perfect setting for sunset relaxation.

Set within the unique landscape near the Canale del Fano, the estate also boasts a bio-lake—a natural, eco-friendly swimming pool that blends harmoniously with the environment. The pool, equipped with technology that allows for year-round use, provides a refreshing retreat in any season.

Masseria Fano is also home to exceptional food products, including four varieties of extra virgin olive oil, organic tomato purée, black olive paté, pomegranate vinegar, and millefiori honey, which captures the essence of southern Italy's wildflowers. The estate's agricultural heritage extends to its vineyards, where carefully selected Negroamaro grapes are cultivated to produce a vibrant red wine, rich in the flavors of dried red fruits. A limited production of Fiano, a convivial white wine, completes the range.

Located just a short distance from the coast, Masseria Fano offers an immersive experience that celebrates both nature and tradition.

Masseria Fano is renowned for its food and wine excellence, offering products designed to satisfy even the most discerning palates. Among the highlights are four distinct selections of extra virgin olive oil, a puree made from organic tomatoes, black olive pâté, pomegranate vinegar, and whole wildflower honey, which captures the essence of southern Italy’s native flora.

The estate also places great emphasis on viticulture, carefully selecting the best bunches from its native vineyards. This meticulous approach results in the production of pure Negroamaro, a wine recognized for its striking red color and aromas of dried red fruits. Additionally, a limited selection of Fiano, a pleasant white wine with a convivial character, rounds out the product range.

The Negroamaro vineyards are located in the Salento region, at an altitude of 68 meters above sea level. The soil, a blend of silt, clay, and sand, and the spurred cordon training system contribute to the quality of the grapes. Each hectare yields around 40 quintals, with the vines being about six years old. The vineyard's proximity to the sea, combined with frequent north winds, helps to maintain a dry climate and mitigate the high summer temperatures typical of Salento.

A unique technique is employed when the grapes near maturity, where the peduncle is slightly constricted in one of the vineyard’s two plots, promoting partial dehydration. This technique enhances the concentration of about 30% of the grapes, which are harvested together after 15 days and then vinified.

The winemaking process involves crushing and de-stemming the grapes, followed by fermentation with maceration at a controlled temperature of 24-26°C for about 10 days. Frequent pumping over and delestage during fermentation ensures maximum extraction of flavor. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for six months in French oak barriques. The resulting wine boasts a ruby red hue and offers aromas of ripe red fruits, with subtle hints of licorice and coffee, making for a rich and complex wine experience.
