tenuta di pietra porzia
About the Winery
Tenuta di Pietra Porzia is an idyllic Italian estate located just 18 kilometers from Rome, nestled on a hilltop with breathtaking views of Rome and the Castelli Romani. Spanning 117 acres of vineyards and olive groves, the estate is situated in a natural amphitheater where the ancient Lake Regillo once lay. Established in 1892, Tenuta di Pietra Porzia is one of the largest single-body estates in Frascati, producing renowned Frascati wines and olive oil from its 2,500 olive trees. The estate also offers a luxury agriturismo, featuring a farmhouse, restaurant, swimming pool, and event spaces, making it a popular venue for weddings, concerts, and film sets.
This charming rural retreat combines history, nature, and hospitality, offering visitors an immersive experience in the heart of the Castelli Romani. The estate's vineyard and olive grove provide the perfect backdrop for enjoying the flavors of Lazio, while the farmhouse offers guests the opportunity to stay in one of the beautifully appointed rooms and experience authentic Roman countryside life.
About the Wines
Tenuta di Pietra Porzia is renowned for its wine production, particularly its Frascati DOC and DOCG wines, including Frascati Cannellino DOCG, a traditional dessert wine. The estate's approach to winemaking emphasizes environmental sustainability, producing wines with low sulfite content and preserving the natural aromas of native vines without the influence of barrique wood. The vineyards feature native varieties like Malvasia del Lazio, Malvasia di Candia, Greco, Trebbiano, and Bombino, alongside reds made from Merlot, Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Lecinaro, the latter known for its notes of coffee, cocoa, and chocolate.
