About Winery and Wines

La Macchia is a small winery with a big impact: one of the smallest wineries along the Tuscan coast, carefully tending its grapes on 3 meticulously maintained hectares located right along the Livorno coast, just steps from the Cecina River. The winery may be small, but it's making a big splash, strictly adhering to biodynamic, non-interventionist principles in winemaking and choosing a rather innovative à la carte menu of wine styles you won't find at many other wineries in this area. French grapes reign supreme here, and you can choose between two Bordeaux-blend reds, a varietal Sauvignon Blanc, or why not try a summer favorite: the sparkling rosé made from Merlot and Petit Verdot?

How the winery was founded:

The winery was founded by Letizia, a doctor in Environmental Sciences, and Christian, an expert winemaker. Together, they are able to produce fresh, innovative wines that express both their winemaking ambitions and the terroir and unique qualities of the natural beauty surrounding the vineyards.

The winery has an intimate and welcoming cellar for wine tastings. Sit back and relax amidst the verdant greenery of the shrubs surrounding the vineyard, feel the salty scents of the sea wafting through the air, and enjoy a unique winemaking experience in one of Tuscany's hidden gems.

We strive to minimize the use of additives and processing aids in our products, making them as natural as possible.
We produce five labels:

Scutum: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot aged in wood.
Aryah: 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
Materia: Rosé made from Merlot and Petit Verdot.
Continuo: Brut rosé sparkling wine produced using the Charmat method from Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes.
Macchiato: Pure Cabernet Sauvignon, with only 500 bottles produced.

“Macchiare un vino” means to give it a precise and unique personality
