Travaglianti Etna's Excellences

Winery in Etna

About the Winery

Travaglianti Etna’s Excellences is located on the south-western slope of Mount Etna, in Contrada Cavaliere (Santa Maria di Licodia), an area defined by ancient volcanic soils and a unique microclimate. At 850 meters above sea level, the estate thrives on deep, mineral-rich soils formed from ancient lava flows and pyroclastic materials, known locally as “funnali.” This extraordinary terroir, shaped since the Neolithic era, combined with Mediterranean breezes and mountain climate, creates ideal conditions for viticulture.
The estate is deeply committed to tradition and sustainability, cultivating indigenous varieties using alberello and spalliera systems, without irrigation and under strict organic practices. Every vineyard activity is carried out by hand, preserving the authenticity of the land and honoring Etna’s centuries-old winemaking heritage.

About the Wines

The wines of Travaglianti Etna’s Excellences are a pure expression of Etna’s volcanic identity and the uniqueness of the south-western slope. Produced under the Etna DOC denomination, they are crafted from indigenous grape varieties: Carricante for whites and Nerello Mascalese (with Nerello Cappuccio) for reds and rosé.

The Etna DOC Bianco, made from 100% Carricante, is vinified in stainless steel at controlled temperatures to preserve freshness, minerality, and aromatic precision. The Etna DOC Rosso, from Nerello Mascalese, undergoes extended maceration and malolactic fermentation, resulting in structure, elegance, and depth. The Etna DOC Rosato is crafted with gentle pressing and cool fermentation, expressing delicate floral and mineral notes.

Each wine reflects the altitude, volcanic soils, and energy of Etna, offering a refined and authentic interpretation of this exceptional terroir.
