About Winery and Wines
From the very beginning, Umberto Cesari believed strongly in the power of the land, capable of producing extraordinary grapes and excellent wines, on par with the most notable Italian red wines. Located in Castel San Pietro Terme near Bologna, among the hills that dominate the landscape of the ancient Via Emilia on the border between Emilia and Romagna, this winery was founded in the early 60’s by Umberto Cesari and his wife Giuliana. As one of the first wine makers in Emilia-Romagna to believe in the potential of the Sangiovese grape, Umberto Cesari has been faithful in his commitment and today is known as a Master of Sangiovese. Nowadays, the winery extends over 12 estates, between Castel San Pietro and Montecatone di Imola.
Every bottle of Umberto Cesari wine contains the essence of an extraordinary artisan journey, the highest levels of knowledge and know-how that represent our style of winemaking. The balanced aromas and flavours are the result of our work on the soils, amidst the vines and in the winery itself, all pursued with our passion for crafting wine.
Our work is constantly evolving to ensure that the aromas and flavours of our wine convey all the history and quality of our terroirs: the characteristics of the local area blend seamlessly with the wine itself, yielding a harmonious, distinctive identity.
Each vineyard has its own personality, which is shaped by exposure, soil and altitude. This uniqueness can only be captured in every bottle by striking the right balance between experience, commitment and care.
You’ll have the opportunity to taste the tipycal wines of Emilia Romagna as Sangiovese Riserva, Albana dry and Passito, Pignoletto Sparkling and Trebbiano, but also international grapes and blend as Cabernet, Merlot and Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. As well as extra virgin olive oil, aged balsamic vinegar, cheeses, piadina and mortadella and more.
