About Winery and Wines
Villa Cosmiana is a prestigious historic wine estate founded in the XVIIIth century by the Antinori family. The glamorous aristocratic mansion house and the historic vaults and cellars are surrounded by a park and italianate gardens of more than 11 hectares and by 13 hectares of vineyards of traditional Tuscan and international grape varieties.
Neglected since the 30s, the estate was purchased in 2018 by the actual owners who undertook a complete restoration of the historic buildings, the gardens, the vineyards and the wine making facilities. In 2023, after five years of heavy work carried out with scrupulous respect for the place and its history, Villa Cosmiana finally reopened its doors and, as in the times of its historic owners, unveils once again to its visitors the richness of its artistic treasures, the splendor of its gardens and the excellence of its wines.
In 2024 the new Villa Cosmiana presented for the first time its wines in two international competitions and obtained four medals (three bronze medals and one silver medal) from the British International Wine Challenge magazine as well as four medals (also three bronze medals and one silver medal) from the famous international magazine Decanter (Decanter World Wine Awards).
Since its first harvest in 2019, the restored Villa Cosmiana estate has been producing between 35,000 and 45,000 bottles of two traditional wines from the Pisan hills and three original creations by the famous Italian oenologist, Barbara Tamburini.
Poggio Cosmiano, 100% Trebbiano and characteristic of the territory; Fattore Crelio, a Chianti DOCG Superiore, revisit the two classics of the historic estate, while Fattoressa Maddalena 100% Trebbiano vinified and matured in oak barrels and Principessa Maria and Duca Amerigo, two Super Tuscans, reconnect with the spirit of innovation and tireless pursuit of excellence.
The result of respect for Tuscan tradition and openness to the most innovative technologies of modern oenology, the estate’s five wines are characterised by powerful fruit aromas, delicate silky tannins and exceptional freshness and clarity on the palate.
