About Winery and Wines
Villa Oppi has a rich history dating back nearly 2000 years, beginning as an ancient Roman post station along the historic Via Emilia, strategically located between Piacenza and Parma. Originally serving as a rest stop for travelers, the estate became known for producing wine, its primary source of income. The property gained prominence in the early 19th century when Marie Louise of Austria, Duchess of Parma and Piacenza, purchased the estate, enhancing its agricultural significance. Under her guidance, Villa Oppi became the first estate in Italy to produce a Bordeaux-style wine in 1820.
Today, Villa Oppi has evolved into the Villa Oppi Wine Group, managing 15 wineries across Italy. We are proud to continue this legacy of innovation and quality, producing a wide range of premium wines that reflect the diversity of Italy’s most important wine regions. Visitors can experience the estate's long-standing tradition and the evolution of Italian winemaking, from its historical roots to its modern-day success.
Villa Oppi Wine Group offers an extensive portfolio of premium Italian wines, showcasing the unique characteristics of Italy’s finest wine regions. Among our selection, you'll find Gutturnio Superiore, Malvasia Secco, Chianti Classico, Amarone della Valpolicella, Barolo, Brunello di Montalcino, Nero d'Avola, and Zibibbo Secco, alongside other varieties from the 15 wineries under our management.
Our wines represent the best of Italy’s viticultural heritage, blending tradition with innovation. From robust reds like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Montepulciano to elegant whites such as Sauvignon and Malvasia Secco, Villa Oppi offers a diverse range of wines to suit any palate.
