Warm and hospitable host

Matteo was an amazing host, he had lots of stories to tell and his passion for his wines shone through. We ended up spending nearly 3 hours there just talking, drinking his delicious Franciacorta and eating the amazing focaccia and cheese platter. Please make sure to stop by and support this family run winery!

Paltusa, a wonderful discovery

We had the pleasure of participating in a tasting at Tenute Paltusa, a true corner of paradise nestled in the mountains. From the very first moment, you breathe an atmosphere of peace and authenticity. The Paltusa Superiore white wine won us over: fresh, fruity, with elegant notes and a surprising structure. A balanced, mineral, and aromatic white, which truly tells the story of the territory it comes from. The other wines were also of the highest level, each with a well-defined personality. Everything is homemade, with love and passion, by the family itself: from the wines to the local products served during the tasting, genuine and delicious, perfectly paired and curated down to the smallest detail. The estate is simply wonderful, with a panoramic pool and a breathtaking view that leaves you speechless. And for those who wish to prolong this experience of beauty and relaxation, there is also the possibility of staying at the property, fully enjoying the tranquility of the place. A special thanks to Andrea and Susanna, who with passion and kindness accompanied us on a journey through the history of the estate, intertwined with their family history and that of the evocative church of San Tommaso. A place that nourishes the sight, the palate, and the soul. A must-visit if you are looking for an authentic, welcoming, and rejuvenating experience.

Lovely Experience

Me and my partner arrived and the family could not be more welcoming. The sons of the owner were learning English in school and could not be more accommodating when helping us understand things. I can not praise the wine enough, and it was complimented by a lovely cold meats board! The hosts were both informative and personable and made us feel instantly comfortable. We left with 2 bottles of wine and having had a lovely experience where we made special memories. Thankyou to the family what a lovely group of people and what a lovely home.

Highly recommended Tour of a splendid winery

Tenute Camilleri are located just under 30 minutes from the B&B where we were staying off the SS115. We arrived slightly early and were immediately welcomed by Mr Camilleri and his son in law. They proceeded to give us an overview of the history of the winery over the past 50 years and what they produced. Next we had a tasting session of some wonderful olive oils. Our winery guide arrived and took us around the place. She spoke both Italian and English so we felt comfortable. As we went around the place, we had frequent stops with little "surprises" that included wine tasting complemented with fresh local food and snacks. We then ended up under the shelter of an olive tree where we continued tasting wines and snacking. Incredibly we ended up quite full and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I love Sicilian wines and try and visit a winery whenever in Sicily. I suggest that you do this visit any time of the year but avoiding the peak of summer (late July to August) as it can be quite hot. After finishing, we were offered to buy wine which we did and it is not expensive at all. Good to see the work that goes into agriculture and the making of wines. It's a very tough job and not appreciated enough. Getting there and returning was easy, just drive slowly in the country roads. Lovely place, lovely people, excellent guide and splendid wine. Cannot stop recommending it! 5 star.

Top tasting

A very warm welcome from Tommy. We tried some special wines, with Ruchè mixed with other grapes, a real surprise. But Tommy really made the difference, explaining the characteristics of each wine, giving pairing advice and above all we immediately hit it off, transforming a simple tasting into a very pleasant tasting in the company of a friend. A very evocative place. It's expanding and we can't wait to come back and see the final result too.

Lovely picnic in the vineyard

We had a wonderful time at the picnic in the vineyard! The Tuscan snacks were not only incredibly delicious but also prepared with great attention to detail. We were especially impressed by the Chianti Classico – straight from the vineyard we were sitting in – absolutely worth recommending. The location itself was stunning: a charming little arbor, cozy sun loungers under an old oak tree, and a breathtaking view over the Chianti countryside. Everything was perfectly organized and prepared – we didn’t have to worry about a thing and could just relax and enjoy. A big thank you to our guide Cristian for his warm hospitality and the fantastic wine tasting at the end. A thoroughly delightful experience that we can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone!

Stellar Experience

Super wine tour and tasting experience at Castel Di Salve! Beautiful wines and a beautiful family business! Thoroughly enjoyed our educational & fun filled conversations with the owner Francesco, and his son Riccardo! We certainly have a new found appreciation for the Salento grape varieties that we will search out back in Canada!
