Benjamin Romeo - Bodega Contadorhe Bodega Contador story starts in 1995 when Benjamin Romeo, winemaker and vine-grower, acquired a centuries old cave hewn into the rock beneath the Castle of San Vicente de la Sonsierra (Rioja). In 1996 he made the first vintage of his “La Cueva del Contador” wine and started to buy vineyards for his plan to become a “bodeguero” - a wine producer. - In the following years he carried out small scale vinifications in the cave and continued to acquire vineyards. In 1999 he made the first vintage of “Contador”. - Seeing these first wines favourably received by the market and specialist press, in 2000 Benjamin decided to dedicate himself full time to his personal project. - Throughout 2001 Benjamin Romeo reconditioned and equipped the garage at his parents’ home in San Vicente for winemaking, thereby increasing the vinification capacity over what was possible in the cave. - The North American wine critic Robert Parker’s Review awarded maximum points (100) to the 2004 and 2005 vintages of Contador, made in the garage. This accolade, hitherto unknown in Spain, hugely increased the label’s international prestige. - From 2004 to 2006, Benjamin Romeo and the architect Hector Herrera worked together on the design of his winery, which was built in 2006-8.

Parés Baltà WineryThe roots of Parés Baltà go back to the 18th century. In 1790 the first vines were planted on the estate that now surrounds the winery. Today however, more than 220 years later, almost everything is different. In 1978, Mr Joan Cusiné Hill took over the winery. Born in 1917 in Bellvei del Penedès, Mr Joan Cusiné Hill came from a family of vine growers and, already from the age of seven, he helped his father to cultivate the vineyards and he never stopped working. At the age of 80 he even helped his grandsons to care for a part of the vineyard. His son Joan Cusiné Cusiné started to manage Pares Baltà in the eighties and released its first still white wine, “Blanc de Pacs” which is still produced today. At the end of the eighties the first red wine from the company was produced, and since then we have enthusiastically been attempting everything to raise the quality of our wines. Since 2000 the management has been in the hands of the two grandsons, Joan and Josep Cusiné Carol. They have brought new and fresh ideas into the company but they have also shown respect for its tradition and guarded the heritage. The wives of Joan and Josep, Maria Elena Jimenez and Marta Casas are the winemakers and oenologists. They have continued to develop new wines and increased the focus on quality. Nowadays, Parés Baltà produces a wide range of high quality wines and cavas that have been both nationally and internationally acclaimed. Always keeping quality in mind, our aim is to produce some of the best and most interesting wines in the world.

Bodega Los AljibesLos Aljibes Winery is located in Los Aljibes Estate, in the municipality of Chinchilla of Montearagón, Albacete; this area corresponds to the Denomination of Origin Vino de la Tierra de Castilla. The winery building, which has got the typical La Mancha style, is surrounded by 178 hectares of vineyards, cultivated at an altitude of almost a thousand meters. Los Aljibes is devoted to elaborating expressive wines in which functionality and modernity blend perfectly offering great cultural value. The soil of the estate is limy and sandy with little organic material and depth. The climate is arid continental. These extreme conditions, along with the cited high altitude, favour a low production and a lengthy maturation of the grape varieties that grow in the area, bringing roundness and quality to our wines. Although the viticulture in our vineyards has preserved traditional methods, it has also introduced modern techniques and organic farming in order to guarantee a high quality grape production and a sustainable balance between the estate and the winery. In addition, the effort and enthusiasm of our team assure wines of great personality and excellent quality.

Bodega Hacienda la PrincesaThe Project was created to transmit the wine heritage, culture of a privileged region like Quixote Land is. We practice sustainable viticulture, minimally interventionist, which allows our clay-calcareous soils to expressing themselves fully. The best raw material must be used to highlight the nature of our variety, our distinguishing element. Our aim is to obtain wines that transmit the good work of our people in the vineyard. With limited productions, we prioritize quality to quantity. We use organic fertilizers, a good control of the leaf mass and various pruning when it is still green. With all this, we obtain wines with great personality, taking the maximum amount of qualities given by our privileged land. Afterwards in the winery, we elaborate in small, cubic deposits of cement (9.000 l., 12.000 l., and 15.000 l.) In these deposits is where magic takes place to create the drink of the gods. More than 10 meters deep, the marriage between wood and wine takes place. With the purpose of transferring the most elegant tannins and aroma to our wine, we only use French oak barrels, choosing carefully the forest of origin.

Bodega Val de SoutoOur Boutique Winery of Colleiteiro is located in the family home, and generation after generation we have been dedicated our lives to viticulture since our ancestor, the Infantry Lt. Col. José Novoa, returned victoriously from the First Carlist War in 1840. Six generations later, the Colleiteiro Jose Manuel Blanco inherited the winery and in 2002 he decided that instead of selling the grapes, he would start bottling his own wine. In 2012, due to the tenth anniversary, we decided to take a step forward in improving our wines, we combined the latest technologies in winemaking with our family traditions, for this reason we chose a new brand for our winery, Val de Souto. As we are a winery of Colleiteiro, all our wines are signature wines and also estate-bottled, which means the wine is elaborated entirely from our own grapes and is made entirely, bottled in our winery and all this processes are made by the same person, the Colleiteiro Jose Manuel Blanco. IMG_0489 (1) Our winery of Colleiteiro, with a capacity of 38000 litres and around 6 acres of vineyards, is located in a small village in the south of Galicia, named Souto (Castrelo de Miño, Ourense).

We’ve been tending the red-hot embers of our grill for 34 years now in the fishing town of Orio, where we are known for choosing only the very finest fish and meats for our grill. However, our father always dreamt of being able to introduce our guests to his txakoli, an artisanal tradition passed down from one generation to next. Hondarribi Zuri grapevines have framed the entrance to his farmstead since time immemorial and making our own txakoli to share with family and friends has been a long-standing family tradition. Convinced that the txakoli we saw our parents make was something both authentic and truly ours, we of the new generation have decided to follow their dream. With eight hectares of vineyard and a winery overflowing with enthusiasm, it gives us great pleasure to invite you to take part in making our father’s dream come true with TXAKOLI KATXIÑA.
