The history of Quinta da Atela, in Alpiarça, dates back to the 14th century, more specifically to 1346, when its name was still Quinta da Goucha e Atela and its owner Afonso Telo de Menezes, Count of Ourém and Barcelos, son-in-law of D. Nuno Álvares Pereira. It was later donated to a religious order, the Convent of Graça in Santarém. At the end of the 20th century, the estate was bought by Isidoro Maria de Oliveira, founder of a great sausage company, Izidoro. After the April 25 Revolution, in 1974, the estate was occupied for a decade, and after that it was returned to the previous owners. In 2017, it was bought by its current owners, entrepreneurs Anabela Tereso and Fernando Vicente, a power couple linked to a big farming and livestock holding, Valgrupo. With a completely new identity, promoted by the unwearying leader Anabela, all of the buildings and outdoor areas have been restored, including the main house, and the entire wine range reorganized.
