A stone house perched on the top of a hill, surrounded by vines and olive trees that appeared both wild and pristine. This was our first introduction to the land we would soon call our own. For 25 years, this Tuscan paradise was nurtured by the hands of Georgio Nelli and Alda Chiarini. Their azienda, Poggio al Gello, has followed organic agricultural practices- one of the many reasons we fell in love with the place. We’re two couples who met in Ireland, moved to Italy, and found our hearts in Maremma. Our shared passion for low-intervention wines led us here, to the land of the ancient Etruscan’s, who first introduced the vine to Italian soil. We are honoured to continue the legacy of this land as we step humbly into the agrarian lifestyle. We look forward to welcoming you!   Luca, Evie, Massi, and Erin

Begnardi winery was founded in 1974 when Roberto Begnardi, a native of northern Italy, decided to settle in Tuscany. He bought a farmhouse and some land on which he planted his first hectare of grape vines, establishing the vineyard. Originally the company dealt with various types of agriculture including animal husbandry and cereal crops, as well as, of course, the production of wine. The wine was produced with rudimentary methodology, without pretense and with the main purpose of satisfying friends, relatives and personal needs. In 2000, two of Roberto's four children joined the company: Michele and Luca who, from an early age, had constantly been contributing to the good running of the company. They therefore decided, together with their father, to focus exclusively on the wine sector, which was already their great passion, allowing them to develop it to the fullest. It was in this year that new vineyards were planted and work began on the construction of a larger cellar. This gave us the opportunity to produce more wine with a higher quality standard  using the new equipment we purchased at the same time. From here the quality of the product become the focal point of the company, from which everything then developed. The resources invested, both economic and labor, began to be dedicated exclusively towards the production of excellent quality grapes, essential for a fine wine, when combined with fastidious care of the vineyards. Over the years, the company landholdings have gradually increased, currently 12 hectares of vineyard are entirely managed with the aim of producing quality grapes. We are now assisted in our endeavour by Alessandro, Michele's son, who shares the family passion, and joined the company in 2016. In 2018, the fascinating and long-desired plan to be certified as an organic company also began; the certification was finally obtained in 2021, an extra step in continuing to develop the winery under the sign of quality. For over 20 years, the constants of Begnardi winery have been family and quality in what we produce. A medium sized family-run winery, we annually produce wines appreciated by enthusiasts and beginners alike.

Today, Tenuta Impostino is a testament to hard work, dedication, and the love of producing fine wines that capture the essence of Tuscany’s rich terroir. Each bottle produced at the estate reflects the land’s strength and beauty, focusing on crafting important red wines that speak to the unique characteristics of the region. The Brugi maternal grandparents, who owned several plots of land in the municipality of Scansano for vineyards, olive groves, and cattle breeding, bought Podere Belvedere in the 1950s. They planted their first olive groves and vineyards, eventually producing Morellino di Scansano. On the paternal side, the Pierini family sold lands near Poggioferro, investing the proceeds in buying Poggio Lombardo, focusing on olive groves, cereals, and cattle breeding. By the 1990s, the two sides of the family merged their resources, creating a single company called "PIERINIeBRUGI." Livestock was phased out, and a stronger focus was placed on quality crops and direct consumer contact.
