Azienda Agricola Antico Gelso
About the Winery
Our farm, guarded by a centuries-old mulberry tree, spans five hectares on the morainic hills of Lake Garda. We believe in the potential of these silt-clay soils, expressing their purity in our artisanal wines. Our work honors the traditions and efforts of those before us, rooted in sustainable and manual practices. Every step in our small production, limited to just 8,000 bottles, is carried out by hand, reflecting our commitment to respecting the land and its ecosystem.
An ancient mulberry tree is the silent guardian of five hectares of vineyards.
It witnesses our venture on the moraine hills on the lower Lake Garda.
We firmly trust in the potential of these silt-clay soils as we express their terroir through the elegance of our wines.
Our past has been forged by the strength of the soil and those who took care of it before us.
Grandfather’s historic cellar has been the crib to our defined and sustainable dream.
We produce artisanal wines, respecting tradition, and protecting the environment and ecosystem.
In the vineyard, we prefer integrated agriculture.
In the cellar, we protect the integrity of the must and its aromatic components to obtain a genuine wine.
For us, craftsmanship is at the basis of everything.
Every gesture and process goes through our hands. Our small production demonstrates it ( 8000 bottles in total)
About the Wines
We produce a range of handcrafted wines, each reflecting the unique terroir of Pozzolengo.
Amoris Vulnus: A 100% Turbiana wine, straw yellow with greenish reflections, featuring vivid notes of pineapple, almond, and citrus. It pairs beautifully with shellfish and grilled fish.
Salice: Another expression of 100% Turbiana, with the same care in vineyard and winemaking processes, showcasing the distinctiveness of our silt-clay soils.
Thisbe: A Merlot with an intense ruby red color, offering herbaceous and aromatic hints, perfect with cured meats, rich first courses, and grilled meats.
Noce: A Merlot aged in both cement tanks and oak barriques, with an intense ruby color and garnet reflections. It pairs elegantly with rich sauces, braised meats, and even dark chocolate.
Each of our wines is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring they embody the purity and character of our land.

Beautiful experience
Small Winery, big Heart
It was a very interesting two hours and she loved it.
We started with a walk through the vineyards, where the owner told us the history of the winery. Then we took a tour of the estate and they explained the entire production process of their wine step by step.
Finally we tasted four of their wines, accompanied by an excellent platter of cured meats and cheeses. For each wine, they gave us detailed explanations and advice on the correct pairings. *We also had the opportunity to directly purchase the wines we tasted, so we could take a piece of the experience home with us.*
The winery is a bit hidden in the middle of the countryside, but it truly offers a beautiful experience for those who can appreciate the commitment and dedication of a family that has loved this work for generations and reaps its rewards.
The Tozzo family is an example of how even a small business can stand out and be on par with the large wineries that focus only on quantity.
We highly recommend it. If I had to describe the experience in a single word, I would choose QUALITY.
If you are lovers of Lugana then you absolutely must try their Lugana SOTTOSUOLO which, along with the Lugana BALLINO, are their flagship wines.
Exceptional
Passion knows no bounds
We also liked the cheese and cured meat pairings that he proposed.
We also recommend it to those who are not experts and want to get closer to wine.
Better to avoid
During the tasting 2 out of 3 bottles of Lugana that we were supposed to taste were missing because we were told they had all been sold, while for the only one they had us try, we are told that that wine should have rested for 3 months to be ready but this one only rested for 1 because like the other bottles, all the ready ones had already been sold. So they had us taste 2 reds from another vineyard. In these situations I would say it's better to avoid holding a tasting.
Small production, excellent wine
Excellent tasting at the Antico Gelso Farm
I absolutely recommend the tasting to try some good wine and get to know a very small but very interesting business.
