Piacevolissima esperienza

About Winery and Wines

The Gallo’s Family has been dedicated to winemaking in “Casa Malfatto” since 1900, when the founder Bartolomeo came in Montabone, leaving his birthplace, Bandita di Cassinelle, and the job of Tailor, completely devoted to growing grapes. The winery has been active on the market with his own brand since1985, and now, the Company is in the hands of Carlo and Guido Gallo, continuing the winemaking traditions with the same passion of their father Giovanni. The family owns about 20 hectares of vineyards, all in Montabone, a small village which lies on the hills of Monferrato, in the south of the province of Asti, at the beginning of the Asti Langa, where the landscape is part of the Italian 50th site UNESCO World heritage (Paesaggi Vitivinicoli di Langhe-Roero e Monferrato). Vineyards are all implanted in circumvatingterraces and bred with Guyot system, at an altitude between 320 and 350 m above sea level, in a soil mainly composed by marl and sandstone.

There are various types of vine planted: Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato, Brachetto, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cortese, Sauvignon Blanc. The particular climatic conditions and the sea wind influence are ideal conditions to obtain high quality wine: fresh, fragrant and elegant. Guido, the Chef-de-cave, has studied at the prestigious Winemakers school of Alba, and works in the cellar to obtain wines with strong personality, where our beautiful terroir is present and tangible.

Our "masterpieces" are the aromatic wines, Moscato d'Asti and Brachetto d'Acqui, but every product is of high value, especially the new Alta Langa DOCG, a traditional method Spumante aged 30 months on the lees, or the Barbera d'Asti DOCG, the most famous red of the area, that has in the pleasant drinkability, freshness and balance his key of success.
