About Winery and Wines

Since 1427, in the Giol estate, men of wine have been handing down experience, tradition, and local culture of making wine. This ancient cellar of extraordinary emotional impact is a complex not affected by the time that fascinates and surprises with a frame of century-old linden trees and wisteria bordered by a stream of spring water.

In 1919 Giovanni Giol who had recently returned from Mendoza (Argentina), where he had emigrated at a very young age and had created an empire and the largest winery in the world, bought the whole complex from the Papadopoli: the Castle, the Park, the Ancient Cellars and a huge surface.

The Giol farm is still today a splendid testimony of peasant civilization and of the roots of San Polo di Piave. Inside the ancient cellars Vittorio, Giovanni's great-grandson, continues the oldest of the activities that have taken place in this complex for centuries. With commitment and dedication, the property wishes to hand down and preserve the memory of these places so that future generations can also learn about the history of this country. The recovery of historic buildings and the collection of testimonies of the local protagonists' lives are essential legacies for understanding the evolution of today's society.

The Giol farm today makes wine from the grapes of its historic farms with organic farming techniques, respecting the environment and the raw material, producing vegetarian and vegan wines and a line without added sulfites. The vineyards (60ha) are totally in San Polo di Piave and include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bronner, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Verduzzo, Raboso Piave, and Glera (Prosecco).
