Buglioni

Winery in Valpolicella, Amarone, Valpolicella Classica

About the Winery

In the early 1990s, the Buglioni family made a bold decision to transition from the fashion industry to viticulture, driven by courage and a deep love for the land. Alfredo Buglioni and his son Mariano, without any prior experience, embraced the challenge of cultivating 3.5 hectares of vineyards in Valpolicella Classica, alongside the home where the family still resides. Today, the "Teste Dure" (Hard Heads) have grown their estate to include 50 hectares in Valpolicella Classica, 5 hectares in Lugana and 5 in Bardolino's area, all organically managed since 2019.

Their dedication has led to the creation of distinctive and elegant wines, crafted from native Valpolicella grapes as well as rare and nearly forgotten varieties, reflecting the authentic character of the region. The Buglioni family’s passion extends beyond winemaking, offering immersive experiences at their five curated locations in Verona and Valpolicella. Here, you can savor traditional "cicchetti" at Osteria del Bugiardo, enjoy expertly grilled meats at Locanda Buglioni or Enoteca del Bugiardo. For those seeking tranquility, Dimora Buglioni offers a serene retreat amidst vineyards and olive trees, while their stylish Residenze provide a unique stay in the heart of Verona.

About the Wines

Buglioni produces exceptional labels, ranging from Valpolicella’s celebrated classics to innovative white, rosé, sparkling, and dessert wines. The family has embraced traditional methods, such as barrel aging, and ventured into experimental techniques like amphora aging for their Amarone Riserva, with plans to incorporate cement aging in their new cellar. Each wine tells a story, and their evocative names mirror the creativity and individuality of the Buglioni legacy.

Spectacular
Our experience at Cantine Buglioni was exceptional! The tour of the vineyard and the winery lasted two hours, during which our guide Fabio was welcoming, precise, and detailed, never boring. He told us the story of the winery, its founder, and the method with which the wine is produced, showing us everything firsthand. The wine tasting at the inn was a very, very pleasant moment; the inn turned out to be a little corner of paradise, where we peacefully enjoyed the offered wines and an excellent risotto. I highly recommend the experience under Fabio's guidance to both couples and groups of friends who wish to learn something more about Cantina Buglioni and experience a convivial and different moment than usual!
