Champagne Dom Caudron
About the Winery
Champagne Dom Caudron is rooted in Passy-Grigny, a village in the Vallée de la Marne, where Abbé Aimé Caudron played a visionary role in shaping local viticulture. Known for his passion and convivial spirit, he recognized the potential of the wines enjoyed by local growers and encouraged them to unite their efforts.
In 1929, thanks to his initiative, 23 winegrowers came together to form a cooperative, combining their resources, knowledge, and vineyards. They established a shared production facility and began crafting their own Champagne, marking the beginning of a collective adventure centered around the Meunier grape.
Over the years, the cooperative has grown to include more than 60 winegrowers, cultivating over 130 hectares of vineyards, mainly around Passy-Grigny. The estate continues to uphold a spirit of collaboration and sustainable viticulture, with careful vineyard management and precise winemaking practices aimed at expressing the unique terroir of the Marne Valley.
About the Wines
Champagne Dom Caudron’s wines are deeply rooted in the Meunier grape, the signature variety of the estate. This grape thrives in the varied exposures and hillside vineyards of Passy-Grigny, shaped by the Marne River and its tributaries, giving the wines their distinctive character.
The range of Champagnes showcases the versatility of Meunier, offering expressions that range from fresh and fruit-forward to more complex and structured styles. The winery practices separate vinification of different plots, allowing for precise blending and a deeper expression of the terroir.
Each year, the tasting of base wines (vins clairs) is a key moment in the winemaking process, where the team defines the final blends. This careful approach results in elegant, gastronomic Champagnes that reflect both the richness of the land and the expertise of the cooperative.
