About Winery and Wines
Cradled by a winemaking tradition inherited from their father and grandfather, it is through love and conviction that the Bunan family strives for excellence in their estates. It was in 1961 that Paul and Pierre Bunan, men of the vine, the sun and the sea, were seduced by the land of Bandol, a noble and prestigious appellation in the south of France.
It was after completing his viticulture and oenology studies and training in California that Paul's son Laurent joined the estates. He was the first of the new generation to pave the way for a modern, committed style. Today, he is in charge of exports and development. Françoise, his sister, is in charge of communications and gives art a special place. His son Alexandre, who joined the domaine in 2020, is in charge of marketing and events.
New technologies and sales in France are handled by Claire, Pierre's daughter, trained in wine marketing, ahead of Philippe, her brother, who is completing his studies as an agricultural engineer.
Together they form a solid team, warm and available, united in their complementarity. It is above all a philosophy of authenticity that this family of builders demonstrates in the creation of their wine.
A PRIVILEGED LOCATION AND DIFFERENTIATED TERROIRS FOR WINES OF CHARACTER
TERROIR MOULIN DES COSTES
This terroir, acquired by the brothers Paul and Pierre in 1961, is the first anchor for Domaines Bunan, enabling them to create characterful blends for a Bandol of great tradition. The restanques of Moulin des Costes, open to the Mediterranean, are typical of the appellation, and today offer 45-year-old vines of Mourvèdre and Grenache.
TERROIR CHÂTEAU LA ROUVIÈRE
Owned by the family since 1969, this vineyard is made up of the five grape varieties characteristic of the appellation, and boasts a wealth of fifty-year-old vines. Its narrow terraces, just wide enough to accommodate three rows of vines, climb up to the Château, facing the sun.
This cuvée of great character is bold and gastronomic. Made from the oldest vines on the estate, this long-ageing wine takes Mourvèdre as its common thread.
TERROIR BÉLOUVÉ
The Bélouvé vines, grown on a land of character, produce a Côte de Provence of great freshness. Fine and elegant, this typically Mediterranean wine is easy to enjoy as an aperitif, and sublimates Provencal cuisine.
