La Genisia

Winery in Oltrepò Pavese

About the Winery

Genisia is an ambitious project bringing together twenty experienced winemakers across 70 hectares of vineyards located in the municipalities of Codevilla and surrounding areas, nestled in the rolling hills of Oltrepò Pavese.

The winery is dedicated to showcasing the best expression of the terroir, leveraging knowledge gained through a scientific project developed in collaboration with the University of Milan.

This initiative led to the zoning of the vineyards, allowing the identification of their soil and climatic characteristics to achieve the highest quality grapes through meticulous vineyard work. Pinot Noir, the star of the production, is carefully crafted to enhance its distinctive qualities.

About the Wines

Metodo Classico Pinot Nero Centodieci Nature D.O.C.G. is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grown in high-altitude vineyards (350-400m) with limestone-rich soils, ensuring optimal ripeness and distinctive sapidity. Grapes are hand-harvested and processed in oxygen-free environments to preserve freshness, followed by 36 months of aging on the lees for complex notes of bread crust, dried fruit, and honey. After disgorgement, the wine matures for 4-6 months, delivering a refined, high-quality sparkling wine.

Pinot Nero Centodieci D.O.C. is a 100% Pinot Noir crafted from a single 0.8-hectare vineyard in Mornico, featuring limestone-rich soils and ideal exposures for balanced ripening. Hand-harvested grapes are fermented with meticulous techniques, including barrel fermentation for enhanced spice and roundness. Aged in French oak barriques for a year with weekly batonnage, followed by six months in bottle, this wine shows structure, depth, and refined complexity.

Metodo Classico Pinot Nero Brut, Extra Brut, and Rosé Brut D.O.C.G. are crafted from 100% Pinot Nero grown across 20 hectares in the Coppa and Schizzola valleys, with altitudes of 200-450m and diverse soils. Hand-harvested grapes undergo precise vinification, including oxygen-free pressing and fermentation at controlled temperatures. Aged for 24 months on lees, these sparkling wines showcase elegance, complexity, and the distinctiveness of the terroir.

Pinot Nero D.O.P. Oltrepò Pavese is a 100% Pinot Noir from a 1.2-hectare vineyard in Val Coppa, Borgo Priolo, at 240m altitude. Hand-harvested grapes undergo cold maceration and controlled fermentation to enhance color and tannin extraction. The wine is aged in steel tanks through winter, completing malolactic fermentation for a refined and balanced profile.
