About Winery and Wines

La Spinosa was founded in 1982 by a group of friends who shared a passion for agriculture and wine, and who - from the very beginning - carried out a low environmental impact farming project. We are true pioneers of organic farming, for which we have been certified since 1994. For us, organic is really a way of life, which involves the concepts of health, environmental protection and balance with the surroundings. We work with a view to tradition and traditional wines, choosing to work with the native grape varieties - first and foremost Sangiovese, a common trait of almost all our wines. The farm consists of 70 hectares, of which about 20 of vineyards. The rest is taken by the farm, the vegetable garden and the olive grove.

The product selection is well assorted, and the decision has always been to privilege quality rather than quantity. Hence the decision to make several different products to underline the peculiarities of each vine variety and terroir. We currently count 13 different dry wines and a sweet wine. Our organic production concerns olive oil, too. From around 2,000 olive trees – a part of which are centuries old - we obtain an extra-virgin oil with high quality and high nutritional properties.
