About Winery and Wines
La Togata is a boutique winery located in Sant’Angelo in Colle, a picturesque hamlet of Montalcino in the province of Siena, Tuscany. Family-run and steeped in tradition, the estate produces a limited number of bottles of Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino, IGT Super Tuscan wines (Azzurreta and Barengo), and Grappa di Brunello. The winery’s vineyards are located in prestigious crus such as St. Sigismondo, Montosoli, and Pietra Foccaia, at altitudes ranging between 250 and 350 meters above sea level, with ideal sun exposure. Managed with dedication by the Napolini family, every phase—from vineyard to cellar—is carefully controlled to create elegant wines that reflect both the richness of the terroir and the family's deep passion for winemaking. With only around 25,000 bottles produced annually, La Togata remains devoted to quality, tradition, and authenticity.
La Togata specializes in the production of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Brunello Riserva, crafted from carefully selected grapes grown on over 20-year-old vines. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures for 28 to 30 days, followed by aging in large Slavonian oak barrels and bottle refinement in temperature-controlled environments. The Brunello di Montalcino offers a ruby red color and a complex bouquet with notes of chocolate, plum, licorice, and ripe fruit—full-bodied and ideal with red meats and aged cheeses. The Riserva is only produced in exceptional vintages and is aged for an additional year, offering greater elegance and roundness. Other wines include Rosso di Montalcino, and IGT Super Tuscans such as Azzurreta and Barengo, which benefit from aging in French oak barriques. The estate also produces a refined Grappa di Brunello, completing its exclusive range of offerings.
