About the Winery

Palazzo Vecchio Winery – Where History Becomes Wine

In the heart of Tuscany, nestled between the rolling hills of Montepulciano and Cortona, lies Palazzo Vecchio, a winery born from the shared dream of Marco Sbernadori and Sandra Zorzi, founders deeply connected to this extraordinary land.

Our first bottle of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG, vintage 1990, marked the beginning of a journey built on respect, dedication, and a constant pursuit of excellence.

Today, the estate is managed by Luca Sbernadori, who oversees all production and operations with passion and vision. He is supported by a close-knit team: our winemaker Alessandro Leoni, international sales expert Eashan, cellar master Stefano, and Fabrizio, our long-standing tractor operator and guardian of the vineyards.
The romantic soul of the estate is entrusted to Maria Luisa Sbernadori, Luca’s sister, who brings magic to every celebration as she leads the wedding planning and events hosted among the vineyards, hills, and breathtaking sunsets.

Our philosophy combines tradition and sustainability, with a deep respect for nature and time. We cultivate Sangiovese Prugnolo Gentile, the noble varietal of Montepulciano, using environmentally conscious practices and a handcrafted approach from vine to bottle.

Palazzo Vecchio is a place to be experienced. Our wines mature slowly in large French oak casks, ranging from 20 to 31 hectoliters, while our estate spaces welcome guests for tastings and events with unforgettable views.
We offer guided tours, vertical tastings, vineyard lunches, and weddings immersed in the Tuscan landscape for those seeking authenticity and emotion.

Over the years, our wines have received recognition and awards, but what makes us truly proud is seeing our guests return—smiling, connected, and inspired by a genuine experience.

At Palazzo Vecchio, wine is not just a product: it’s a story to taste, a passion to share.

About the Wines

The Wines of Palazzo Vecchio – The Story of a Land, the Soul of an Identity

At Palazzo Vecchio, every wine tells the story of a place — its soil, its seasons, and the people who shape it with passion and purpose.
Our vineyards stretch between Montepulciano and Cortona, rooted in a patchwork of clay, silt, tuff and forest sediment. Here, the Sangiovese Prugnolo Gentile reigns, accompanied by native and international varieties that enrich our expression of Tuscan identity.

Each wine is crafted with artisan care, aged in large French oak casks (20 to 31 hl), and guided by a philosophy of authenticity, sustainability, and respect for tradition.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano "Terrarossa" DOCG – Single Vineyard (1951)

Our most iconic wine.
100% Sangiovese, grown in a historic vineyard planted in 1951, on soils once covered by forest. The rare combination of silt, tuff, clay, and woodland sediment gives this wine remarkable complexity.
Deep, elegant and mineral, with notes of blackberries, underbrush, graphite and sweet spices — a true Grand Cru of Montepulciano.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano "Maestro" DOCG

85% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo Nero, 5% Mammolo
Aged for 24 months in large oak, then in bottle.
Elegant and balanced, with aromas of violet, cherry and balsamic hints. Smooth tannins, refined structure, and a long, satisfying finish.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG

Same blend as the Maestro — crafted only in outstanding vintages.
Aged 36 months in wood and 6 in bottle.
Rich and intense: notes of dried cherries, tobacco, sweet spices and aged wood. Full-bodied, long-lived and ideal for slow contemplation.

Rosso di Montepulciano "Dogana" DOC

80% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo, 10% Mammolo
Vinified in stainless steel and briefly aged in oak.
Bright and fruity, with notes of pomegranate and red currant. A versatile, everyday wine with noble character.

Vin Santo di Montepulciano DOC

Grechetto, Malvasia, Trebbiano Toscano
Naturally dried grapes and slow aging in small barrels.
Rich aromas of figs, walnuts, honey, and candied citrus.
Perfect with aged cheese or a classic Tuscan crostino nero.
As we say in Italy: “Don’t let the farmer know how good cheese is with pears.”

Brais IGT Toscana Bianco

Grechetto, Malvasia, Trebbiano Toscano
A 13% white with elegance and character.
Floral and citrusy, with a hint of almond. Fresh and mineral-driven, it pairs beautifully from aperitivo to grilled seafood.

Bliss IGT Toscana Rosso (Multivintage)

Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot
Crafted from four different vintages, this bold, unconventional red offers aromas of ripe fruit, chocolate, and spice.
Lush, smooth and surprisingly drinkable at 14.5%.
Playful, layered and timeless — a wine without a calendar.

Arlet IGT Toscana Rosato

100% Sangiovese
Pale pink and vibrant.
Hints of wild berries, rose petal and white peach.
Its freshness and salinity evoke Provence, but this rosé speaks with a distinctly Tuscan voice.

Cortona DOC Rosso

70% Sangiovese, 30% Syrah
A bold blend that combines the heart of Tuscany with the spice of Syrah.
Black pepper, green pepper and wild berries on the nose.
Structured and persistent — perfect with grilled meats and robust dishes.

Palazzo Vecchio creates wines that express the identity of a place — not just to be tasted, but to be remembered.

Tasting With Passionate Vigneron
Mr. Lucca gave us a detailed history of his vineyards with plenty of his own take on events. Then we went into the production side of his small operations. Then came the tasting; what fantastic wines. Very generous pours! Then his mother came in and gave us little jars of honey made on the property. Great experience!
Mr. Lucca has plans to continually improve his facilities, but nothing was left wanting at our visit to Palazzo Vecchio.

Thank you Mike
It truly means a lot that you chose Palazzo Vecchio Winery for your wine tour and tasting in Montepulciano. Sharing the story of our vineyards, walking through our small production and tasting our Vino Nobile di Montepulciano together is the heart of what we do here in Tuscany. When my mother brought the honey from our own beehives, that is simply our way of welcoming guests into our family.

If you are ever back in Montepulciano for another wine experience, our winery doors are always open.

See you soon

Excellent Winery and warm welcome
It has been a very nice experience. They are letting you visit the vines and the land that surround the winery and then you’ll have a visit inside the production area and also a little visit to the cellar where the great reserves are located. After this you’ll have a very generous tasting of their great wines. Excellent experience! We will come back!
