Podere Gagliassi

Winery in Langhe, Alta Langa, Barolo

About the Winery

Podere Gagliassi, an ancient winery nestled in the hills of Monforte d'Alba, embodies the essence of winemaking in the Langhe. Established in 2016 with a complete renovation of the vineyards, it is now managed by Roberto and his son Eugenio, who took over the winemaking process in 2019, supported by renowned oenologist Serena Cordero.

The vineyards, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Langhe hills, are home to Nebbiolo for Barolo, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Alta Langa (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay), and Dolcetto grapes. Each variety is cultivated with great care and respect for the land, and in 2020, the estate earned the Organic Certification, reflecting a strong commitment to producing high-quality organic wines.

Among Podere Gagliassi’s standout creations is the Barolo Badarina, produced from an exceptional vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba. This wine, a testament to the winery’s dedication and innovation, has become one of the region's most celebrated labels, representing the perfect blend of tradition, passion, and terroir.

About the Wines

Podere Gagliassi spans 19 hectares of vineyards, where Barolo, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Alta Langa (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay), and Dolcetto grapes are cultivated. All the vineyards surround the estate, except for the Badarina vineyard, located in Serralunga d'Alba, which produces Nebbiolo for Barolo.

The winery is built on the core values of tradition, culture, and a deep love for the land. These guiding principles are reflected in every aspect of production, from sustainable cultivation techniques to a commitment to environmental stewardship. Although the Organic certification was officially granted in 2020, the estate has been practicing organic farming since 2017.

The goal at Podere Gagliassi is to produce high-quality organic wines that respect both the ecosystem and the unique terroir of the Langhe.

Pleasant experience in the Langhe
I booked this visit for myself and my family members from Milan. I should mention that I often go to the Langhe, I already know the most renowned wineries and I like to discover new ones, like in this case Podere Gagliassi, an estate on the border of the Barolo area that intrigued me. I wanted to immediately applaud the presence of electric charging stations at the destination: an excellent service for customers, which shows an eye for innovation and sustainability. The welcome was excellent: a young man educated and informed us about the wine production areas and the grape varieties, then the visit to the estate and the cellar. Our guide was professional and knowledgeable, even with some of my tricky questions. The winery is recently built, so it still has to make its history. Anyway, I feel I can say that the professionalism and friendliness of our guide added an extra touch to a winery that has a very good starting point. Final score: 8.
Top guide!

Surprise
Very beautiful place, the young woman who was explaining was very knowledgeable, friendly and pleasant. We learned facts and curiosities that we didn't know about grape varieties and processes. The wine tasting was a sensory journey that I would gladly repeat.

Great hospitality
A short walk on the vineyard's with stories about the area and winery was a good start for the reason behind the visit. Wine tasting thru variety was well organized and in the end the possibility of vertical tasting of different Barolos was great end for the visit.

If plan to visit, consider to reserve a table for a lunch or dinner from the restaurant. Unfortunately we missed that opportunity.
