About Winery and Wines
Talestri is the winery of sisters Lisa and Francesca Marcato and their father Francesco.
It is located in the hills of Lavagno, east of Verona, where the typical limestone soils of Valpolicella give way to unique basaltic outcrops from an ancient underwater volcano.
The name evokes the Queen of the Amazons and emphasizes the winery's strong female identity. Peculiarity that manifests itself with grace and determination at every stage of the work, from tending the vines to welcoming guests.
For the Marcato family, wine is sharing: a means of conveying emotions, telling stories and creating bonds. Each visit is an experience that goes beyond a simple tasting: an invitation to discover what each bottle holds and the emotions it can convey.
The project rests on two fundamental cornerstones - diversity and sustainability.
As from 2020, the business and the wines have obtained the SQNPI certification (Sistema di Qualità Nazionale di Produzione Integrata - National Quality System for Integrated Production) which bears witness to the company's pledge to sustainability.
The Family grows Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella and small quantities of other native and international varieties.
About the training systems, Talestri chooses the pergola and the espalier technique, in order to optimise grape ripening according to sunlight exposure and the inclination of the hill.
The project bases on the enhance of the territory and Valpolicella terroir, by creating a selection of elegant and traditional red wines and two Classic Method Blanc de Noir sparkling wines that testify the Marcatos father great sparkling wine experience.
