About Winery and Wines
Tenute Olbios, nestled in the heart of Gallura, Sardinia, is a winery steeped in tradition and driven by a commitment to excellence. Under the passionate guidance of owner Daniela Pinna, the winery continues a family legacy of winemaking, meticulously overseeing every stage of production from grape harvest to bottling. Located in the renowned Vermentino di Gallura DOCG region, Tenute Olbios produces some of the finest Vermentino wines in the world, characterized by the unique terroir of granitic and sandy soils.
The winery operates with a deep respect for environmental sustainability, implementing an integrated farming system that eschews herbicides and minimizes environmental impact. Certified by SQNPI and Green Care, the vineyards are dry-farmed, relying on the deep roots of the vines to extract minerals from the soil, which enrich the wine's flavor profile. The vineyards are maintained traditionally, with hand pruning and the use of biodegradable materials, while the grapes are harvested by hand and transported in small crates to ensure their quality is preserved.
Tenute Olbios is also proudly certified Vegan, with no animal products used in any aspect of the winemaking process. This dedication to sustainable, ethical practices, coupled with a relentless pursuit of quality, ensures that each bottle from Tenute Olbios is a true reflection of Sardinia's rich winemaking heritage and the unique characteristics of the Gallura terroir. The wines produced here are not just beverages but a testament to the land, the tradition, and the innovative spirit of the winery.
Tenute Olbios offers exceptional wines that highlight the unique terroir of Sardinia.
Lupus in Fabula is an exquisite still white wine made from 100% Vermentino grapes under the DOCG Vermentino di Gallura denomination. The grapes are hand-harvested and soft-pressed, with the must fermenting at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged sur lie for at least 8 months, giving it a refined bouquet of white pulp fruits, such as pear and peach, complemented by floral notes, citrus hints of orange peel, and grapefruit.
Lupus in Fabula Late Harvest is a distinguished DOCG Vermentino di Gallura white wine, produced from 100% Vermentino grapes harvested late in the season, from late September to early October. This late harvest process allows the grapes to develop intense flavors. After careful soft pressing and cryomaceration, the wine is aged for 14 months on the lees in stainless steel, unfiltered. The result is a wine rich with autumnal flavors, including notes of pear compote, citrus, honey, and almond, with a dry, warm, and savory finish.
Bisso 50 Mesi, the winery's distinguished sparkling wine, is made from 100% Vermentino grapes in the Vermentino di Gallura DOCG. This wine undergoes the classic method of production, with 50 months of aging on the lees, resulting in a refined wine with fine floral aromas, notes of white fruit, and hints of dry pastries.
Amur is a still red wine made from 100% Muristellu grapes under the IGP Colli del Limbara denomination. The grapes are hand-harvested in September and undergo delicate destemming and fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 14 months in steel containers, followed by refinement in the bottle. Amur offers fragrant notes of dark berries, myrtle, and thyme, with a dry, round palate and gentle tannins, reflecting the unique character of the Muristellu grape.
Cangrande 17, a sophisticated still red wine from Tenute Olbios, is classified under IGP Colli del Limbara, and crafted from a blend of 70% Muristellu and 30% autochthonous red grapes, sourced from sandy soils rich in decayed granite. After a careful vinification process, it is aged for 18 months in stainless steel tanks followed by 12 months in French oak Allier barrels.
Nessuno is a still red wine produced under the IGP Colli del Limbara denomination, made from autochthonous red grapes. The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo delicate vinification with temperature-controlled fermentation and frequent délestage. The wine is aged in steel tanks and further refined in the bottle. It features a well-structured and velvety palate, with an elegant bouquet of intense red berry notes, balanced tannins, and hints of licorice and cocoa. The wine is also distinguished by unique designer labels created by Chiara Demelio, featuring six different mythological female characters from Ulysses' journey.
