The tour we had at La Gerla was exceptional, and the wines were simply delicious. It’s a must-do if you find yourself in the area. Highly recommended!

Our driver ,Stefano Conti, met us at 9 am at the hotel and made us very comfortable, provided information about local sights and brought us to piazza Michelangelo from where we had a breathtaking view over the Arno and onto Florence. Unhurried, we drove to our first winery, a small venue producing 6000 bottles yearly, - Sangiovese and simultaneously reviving their oil production. 3000 olive trees. Donato is a passionate wine maker with enthusiasm and a desire to teach. We tasted 5 wines - served with olives, bread , cheeses and prosciutto while enjoying the view over the Toscana hills to S. Gimignano in the distance. From Pozzi we then drove to our second tasting in a farmhouse with separate dining rooms for small groups and couples. Tagliatelle al ragu were offered here and multiple red wines, some based on Sangiovese , mostly blending and working with other grapes, truly delicious wine and food. The young man who introduced these to us was funny and equally passionate about wine. We felt not pressured to buy any but were given order details and prices which included fees for shipping to the US. The tour progressed in the hot afternoon to S. Gimignano, which was my highlight. The time capsule of a medival town, perfectly preserved. We went for Gelato ( Doldini?) In the market place. Stefano gave us ample opportunity to walk about, we met again outside the town gate to return to Florence. Stefano explained the sights and history of many wineries, the historic significance of monasteries, Villas and Villages en route. We spent about 9 hours on this tour and it was well worth it.

The tour around the vineyards was excellent. The stories the daughter of the owner told were great and gave us a lot of information about the Tenuta Gottardi, the people and the valley. The tasting in the vineyard was perfect. A perfect spot and than the tasting of five excellent wines with cold cuts and cheeses. It was just great.

Sophie was superb as our hostess. A great tour around the winery and fantastic wines! We had a lovely visit!

Definitely recommend staying in their amazing rooms and doing the wine tasting, which is only a 1-minute walk away. Everyone was so nice, warm and welcoming. And then those wines! Will definitely come back and buy more bottles. We also got a very nice charcuterie plate that perfectly matched the wines, and the wine cellar was authentic and clean. All the wines are made by their own hands. The tasting included a white wine, their Teran wine, a red blend wine and their special wine liqueur. Thankyou for the amazing evening!

We enjoyed the wine tastings very much and our driver was very nice and good driver. After the first winery, he took us to a seaside village before the 2nd winery but it was raining so that wasn't going to be ideal, but was 2 hours until the 2nd winery tasting so instead we had him take us to Noto before the last winery tour. Noto is a lovely town that is worth spending a few hours...we wish we had more time there. The two wine tastings and tour at the first winery were lovely and the wines were delicious and winery staff were all excellent! The tour coordinator was very communicative when we had questions. We very much enjoyed the tour overall!
