Tenuta La Viola, owned by the Gabellini family, is a historic winery located in Bertinoro, Emilia-Romagna, established in 1962. Spanning 12 hectares of vineyards, originally planted with Sangiovese and Albana, the winery is deeply rooted in tradition. Since 1999, it has been certified organic and has recently embraced biodynamic practices. The family moved from Romagna's hinterland in 1962 and purchased land with Sangiovese and Albana vineyards, originally cultivated using the alberello system. Deeply rooted in the local peasant tradition, wine was always seen as more than just a food — it symbolized community and shared pride in the land. The winery has been certified organic since 1999, and since 2018, has incorporated biodynamic practices. The grapes are harvested by hand, and the family’s dedication to sustainable farming ensures that each bottle reflects the unique character and natural balance of the land.

Azienda Agricola Biologica Galassi Maria
(Winery in Bertinoro)

Provides 1 wine tasting and winery visit from €12.00
The Galassi Maria Organic Farm was born from the passion of Maria Galassi, daughter of a farmer, who sought to preserve her family’s deep connection to the land. Her journey took a turn from pursuing a medical degree to fully embracing the green landscapes of her family business, passed down since the late 19th century. Nestled in the pristine hills near Bertinoro, the farm is surrounded by woods and a stream, creating a natural buffer that has enabled her to cultivate using organic methods since 1994. Certified by CCPB of Bologna, Maria is driven by two fundamental principles: sustainability and conservation of the land. These values guide her commitment to organic agriculture, where the ecosystem is self-sustaining with minimal external interventions. Her father's wisdom, who taught her the patience to work with nature's rhythms, is now passed down to her son and grandchildren, continuing the family’s legacy.

Giovanna Madonia
(Winery in Bertinoro)

The Property extends over 35 acres on the sunny ridge of the magnificent hill of Montemaggio, in Bertinoro, the heart of Romagna Wine District. Giovanna’s grandfather, a Sicilian born engineer with a passion for wine, used to cultivate a few acres of grapevines and produce some wine for family and friends. Giovanna’s father, himself an engineer, increased the property and the reputation of the name, so that he was elected as the first President of the Consorzio Tutela dei Vini Romagnoli (Consortium of the Wines of Romagna). In 1992, following meticulous studies and clone selection, Giovanna started the new chapter of the Madonia Estate, assisted by Remigio Bordini, who is considered an authority of this Region’s viticultural scene. She planted the new vines at an altitude between 200 and 350 meters (650 and 1.000 feet), with a density of 7.000 plants per hectare (2.900 plants per acre) trained in the “Alberello” or “Bush” system, with a variation that allows the clusters a more consistent sun exposure throughout the daily cycle. Here, the plants benefit from an optimal southwest exposure, and the yields are kept at minimum for the best fruit quality. In this place, our grapevines have found enviable soil and climate, intermingled with olive groves and wild forest, whose scent is blended with the pleasant breeze coming from the Sea, only 5 miles away – and the charm of this landscape echoes our fruit’s cherished character.

Campodelsole
(Winery in Bertinoro)

Sixty five hectares of vineyards on the hills of Bertinoro. The noble wine-making experience of a generous and hospitable land. The name Campodelsole embodies its essence, the fertility of the land in Romagna, the vigour of its sun, the generosity of its land and the blue sky. The happy combination of these elements is the meeting point between the mystery and matter of things: wine. The particularity of the cellar is the winemaking method because, as the winery is structured on three levels, the grapes are worked by gravity, without using mechanical pumps. The result are wines capable of represent the land and the tradition, from the fields to the cellar. Only one thing can clearly explain how we make our wine and how we want it to be: our wines.

Podere Baratta covers an extension of 12 hectares next to the hill of Conzano, popularly known as Monte della Baratta, on top of which stands the “Cipresso di Francesca” sung by Giosuè Carducci in the famous ode. This enchanting hill, located in the heart of Bertinoro, rooted on the Tuscan-Romagnola Apennine ridge and standing like a natural terrace on the Adriatic Sea, facilitates an excellent ventilation and the maintenance of a microclimate particularly suitable for viticulture thanks to its location. The Satta family has been passionately developing its own company for years, constantly striving to improve and diversify its production, using modern technologies respecting the typicalness and the wine tradition of Bertinoro. In 1960 the Satta family moved from Sardinia to Romagna by purchasing the fund in Monte Baratta in Collinello near to Bertinoro. In 1997 the major part of the company area was destined to vineyards,
