Fabio ''Spok'' Elleri
(Winery in Forlì-Cesena)

Provides 1 wine tasting and winery visit from €20.00
Fabio 'Spok' Elleri, once a computer scientist, had a life-altering experience following a serious motorbike accident in 2011, which led him to reassess his career and lifestyle. After years spent in the Canary Islands, he returned to Italy in 2016, where he gained experience working at a friend’s vineyard. A year later, he purchased his own estate in Castrocaro Terme and Terra del Sole, located in the Rio Cozzi area. The farm, affectionately known as 'Uncle Spok's farm,' spans 12 hectares—four dedicated to vineyards and eight to woodlands. It sits near the impressive Sasso Spungone cliff, a stunning sedimentary rock formation dating back three million years, and is part of a territory of community importance. At the farm, Elleri has embraced organic farming, fostering sustainable agricultural practices. His dedication to the land reflects his personal journey toward a more meaningful and balanced life, focusing on the cultivation of grapes and maintaining the natural beauty of the surrounding woodlands.   Territory:  The two parcels have a multifaceted terrain, with significant variations just a few meters apart. The north-facing plot, named 'Mar,' overlooks the Adriatic Sea and has blue clays and Spungone stone, the karstic rock formed by limestone and rich in marine fossils. To the south, we find the 'Cozzi' parcel, characterized by a ferrallitic soil of red clays, Spungone, and limestone alternating with sandstone, all overlooking the valley of the Montone River. A marine and saline imprint characterizes both parcels because of the salty-bromine-iodine thermal waters that rise to the surface and form a small lake.    The farm: The farm, located in the very first hills of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines, is at an altitude ranging from 100 to 200 meters above sea level and comprises 12 hectares, of which about 4 are vineyards and 8 are woodland. In recent years, Fabio has tried to favor biodiversity as much as possible, planting trees from ancient and autochthonous seeds, hemp, aromatic herbs, and other melliferous plants. The result is palpable through many varieties of flowers, butterflies, beetles, wild bees, and insectivorous birds.   Vineyards:  The estate has 25 to 30-year-old plants pruned using the Simonit and Sirch method. It incorporates green manuring with field beans, barley, horseradish, phacelia, sainfoin, sulla, clover, field peas, and alfalfa. Along with the estate, Fabio is taking care of old Romagna vineyards divided into small plots, renting them out, and making wine with the help of other friends and winemakers - this allows him to experiment with indigenous and forgotten grape varieties.

Azienda Agricola Biologica Galassi Maria
(Winery in Forlì-Cesena)

Provides 1 wine tasting and winery visit from €12.00
The Galassi Maria Organic Farm was born from the passion of Maria Galassi, daughter of a farmer, who sought to preserve her family’s deep connection to the land. Her journey took a turn from pursuing a medical degree to fully embracing the green landscapes of her family business, passed down since the late 19th century. Nestled in the pristine hills near Bertinoro, the farm is surrounded by woods and a stream, creating a natural buffer that has enabled her to cultivate using organic methods since 1994. Certified by CCPB of Bologna, Maria is driven by two fundamental principles: sustainability and conservation of the land. These values guide her commitment to organic agriculture, where the ecosystem is self-sustaining with minimal external interventions. Her father's wisdom, who taught her the patience to work with nature's rhythms, is now passed down to her son and grandchildren, continuing the family’s legacy.

Tenuta Casali was founded in 1978 when the Casali brothers, Valerio and Paolo, took over their grandfather Mario’s farm in Mercato Saraceno, which lies along the Savio Valley in the Appenine hills of Romagna at an altitude of 525 - 800 feet (160 - 240 meters). The estate now consists of 123 acres (50 hectares) of which 44 acres (18 hectares) are under vine, varying in age from 13-28 years. We are dedicated to producing quality wines without forgetting the wine growing traditions of Romagna that were handed down from grandpa Mario and which continue to be passed down from generation-to-generation. In fact, to keep with this tradition the next generation of Casalis, Francesco, Daniele e Silvia, who just returned from an experience with a winery in California, are already at work beside their fathers.

The Condé wineries are located on the hills surrounding Predappio, which has long been considered the true home of Sangiovese. The history of this variety of wine has been closely interwoven into that of our lands over the past two thousand years. Caio Appio, an ancient Roman tribune, founded the city of Predappio in in the third century B.C., after retiring to the hills to cultivate Sanguis Iovis, or Sangiovese. These ancient origin explain the strong link between this noble grape and our hills. In 2001 Francesco Condello, who created and now owns the Condé winery, decided to leave the world of high finance behind him after thirty years, in order to dedicate himself to what had always been his passion: wine-making. His love for this sector springs from his childhood, when, along with his grandparents who came from a long line of wine-makers he would spend time in the family vineyards helping with the production of the wine, which at the time was only for the consumption of the family. His strong bond with the soil and his passion for grape-growing were firmly rooted in him throughout the years he worked in Bologna as a stock broker, and he frequently travelled to the most important wine-producing areas in Europe. In 2001 he decided to follow his vocation and bind his own life to the bountiful lands around Predappio. He was spurred on by the desire to recreate a great tradition from the past. He founded the Condé winery with the firm intention of launching once again the production of an authentic Sangiovese di Predappio, which has its roots both physically and historically in these hills and it is from these very hills that the wine sets out on its journey to be appreciated and shared on the tables of every nation on earth.

Giovanna Madonia
(Winery in Forlì-Cesena)

The Property extends over 35 acres on the sunny ridge of the magnificent hill of Montemaggio, in Bertinoro, the heart of Romagna Wine District. Giovanna’s grandfather, a Sicilian born engineer with a passion for wine, used to cultivate a few acres of grapevines and produce some wine for family and friends. Giovanna’s father, himself an engineer, increased the property and the reputation of the name, so that he was elected as the first President of the Consorzio Tutela dei Vini Romagnoli (Consortium of the Wines of Romagna). In 1992, following meticulous studies and clone selection, Giovanna started the new chapter of the Madonia Estate, assisted by Remigio Bordini, who is considered an authority of this Region’s viticultural scene. She planted the new vines at an altitude between 200 and 350 meters (650 and 1.000 feet), with a density of 7.000 plants per hectare (2.900 plants per acre) trained in the “Alberello” or “Bush” system, with a variation that allows the clusters a more consistent sun exposure throughout the daily cycle. Here, the plants benefit from an optimal southwest exposure, and the yields are kept at minimum for the best fruit quality. In this place, our grapevines have found enviable soil and climate, intermingled with olive groves and wild forest, whose scent is blended with the pleasant breeze coming from the Sea, only 5 miles away – and the charm of this landscape echoes our fruit’s cherished character.
