Emidio Oggianu

About the Winery

Emidio Oggianu Winery, located in the scenic Badde Nuraghe area of Bosa, Sardinia, is deeply committed to the excellence of its Malvasia di Bosa wines.

The company was founded in 1956 by Angelo Oggianu, who established the vineyard in the Badde Nuraghe area of Magomadas. His son, Emidio, inherited the vineyard in 1968 and expanded the operation after retiring in 1995. Emidio replanted the vineyards using the Guyot training system and oversaw the entire production process on-site. A new facility was built for vinification, aging, and hospitality, including guest accommodations. Today, Emidio’s son, Stefano, continues the legacy, expanding the vineyard and maintaining the family’s passion for Malvasia.

The Oggianu family, now by Emidio's son Stefano, meticulously tends to their vineyards, where the calcareous, volcanic, and sandstone soils create an ideal terroir classified as CRU. The winery’s philosophy emphasizes quality over quantity, ensuring that every bottle reflects the essence of Sardinian heritage. Visitors to Malvasia Oggianu can experience this passion firsthand, with guided tours through the vineyards and cellars, and the joy of tasting a wine that captures the spirit of the land and the dedication of its makers.

About the Wines

Emidio Oggianu Winery is renowned for its production of Malvasia di Bosa DOC, focusing primarily on the reserve version, which reflects the winery’s dedication to crafting high-quality wines. In the cellar, the winery's Malvasia must age for at least 48 months. Aging takes place in non-toasted oak barrels, the goal is to make a wine with its flavor and not with the flavor of the barrel, the wood is used for oxygenation and not to give perfumes. The refinement in the bottle is also very important, the wine leaves the cellar only when it is ready.

In years where the vintage is less favorable, the winery distills the Malvasia into a remarkable brandy, showcasing its commitment to excellence. Additionally, Emidio Oggianu has recently begun producing a white IGT Planargia, made from 100% Vermentino, which has quickly garnered attention for its fresh and intriguing character. Each wine embodies the unique terroir of the region and the passion of the Oggianu family.

Fantastic local vineyard!
Silvano was just super fabulous at explaining the vineyard production and teaching us how to appreciate quality. He really made our experience personal. What a great guy! I wish other vineyards were just as personable! Five stars

A truly unique and memorable experience!!
The setting in the Malvasia area is beautiful and peaceful, and the whole visit felt both interesting and incredibly relaxing.
The wines were truly unique and unlike anything we had tasted before, which made the tasting especially memorable. Our guide was professional, knowledgeable, kind, and very attentive throughout the visit, and made the experience even better.
Definitely one of the highlights of our time in Sardinia. Highly recommended!
Don’t miss the Malvasia di Bosa Riserva 2021!! truly unique and delicious. We had never tasted anything quite like it before. Definitely a highlight of the tasting!

Prijzig

A great way to discover special wines
We were warmly welcomed to the Oggianu family vineyard, a small operation but with several generations of winemakers behind it, whose stories were told to us by Mr. Silvano while he showed us the vines.
The tasting, accompanied by local cheeses, was a journey through time, showing us how Malvasia di Bosa can evolve.
An excellent finish with the grappa, also from Malvasia.
Recommended experience.

Wine, cheese and Silvano
It was more than just a wine tasting experience: we had the pleasure of meeting Silvano who took his time not just in explaining the history and function of cultivating the famous Malvasia grape, but also in chatting with us about his beloved home, Sardegna. It was a real treat for us to be able to spend some time just talking as though we were among friends and not simply as tourists (speaking Italian of course doesn’t hurt :-).. Thank you, Silvano for also introducing us to your band, I Caos Calmo! You’re a wonderful singer (able to hit the notes on The Cranberries, Dire Straits and even Bowie, wow!), and we truly enjoyed your band’s performance in the open air on a lovely summer night in Bosa. Mille grazie!

A wonderful, funny and informative experience
Silvano took us on a tour of the vineyards, educating us on what makes the particular wine distinct from other regions, he had the perfect balance of information and good humour, we really enjoyed our time together. He was able to answer any questions we had. Afterwards we went to complete our tasting session which was equally informative and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this authentic experience in Bosa.

Wonderful tasting
An excellent tasting consisting of a glass of Vermentino and two of Malvasia di Bosa, accompanied by pecorino cheese and amaretti.
Silvano was kind and professional, and after showing us the vineyard, he accompanied us into the cellar, answering every one of our questions with passion.
A wonderful experience that we recommend!

Wine tasting
A very attentive, helpful, and nice gentleman.
The guide was very interesting and she showed us her passion for the vineyard and the wine.
The location of the place is beautiful, 300 meters from the sea, which can be seen from the estate.
The tour is in Italian or English, we did it in Italian without knowing much but she made a great effort so that we would understand and be comfortable.
