Pietraserena
About the Winery
Pietraserena, located in the heart of San Gimignano, is a winery steeped in tradition and renowned for its exceptional wines. Situated 300 meters above sea level in the Siena region, the estate spans 40 hectares of rolling hills that encompass vineyards, olive groves, and a copse, ensuring a rich biodiversity. This unique location is ideal for cultivating a variety of grape types, including Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Sangiovese, Merlot, Canaiolo, Syrah, Colorino, Malvasia Nera, Vermentino Nero, Trebbiano Toscano, and Malvasia. These grapes give rise to distinctive varietals and remarkable blends, including the celebrated Chianti.
Pietraserena’s commitment to quality is reflected in its respect for the natural environment, following agricultural practices that honor the teachings of Bruno Arrigoni. The estate is known for its natural farming approach, with minimal and carefully targeted treatments that prioritize the well-being of the land, people, and the environment. Every step of the winemaking process, from harvesting and destemming to crushing, fermentation, aging, fining, bottling, and labeling with the Family Coat of Arms, is meticulously carried out to ensure that each bottle embodies the essence of the land and the tradition that guides the winery.
This dedication to preserving the integrity of the vineyards and the surrounding environment results in wines that are not only a testament to the rich history of San Gimignano but also a reflection of the unique terroir of the Siena region.
About the Wines
Spanning 18 hectares and situated between 5 and 300 meters above sea level, the Pientraserena vineyards are divided into 4 distinct plots: La Vigna del Prefetto in Mosignano di Arcola, La Cascina dei Peri in Castelnuovo Magra, the historic vineyards of Sarzana, and the picturesque landscapes of the Cinque Terre. The unique characteristics of these stunning, yet challenging terrains, nurtured by the gentle sea breeze year-round, contribute to the exceptional quality of the Vermentino, Albarola, Bosco, Rossese di Arcola, and Ciliegiolo grapes. These grapes are the foundation of internationally renowned Italian wines such as Vermentino Colli di Luni and the exquisite Cinqueterre Sciacchetrà.
For those seeking wines with superior oenological qualities, steeped in history, and offering a sublime tasting experience, Arrigoni wines are an excellent choice. The portfolio includes prestigious DOC labels such as Vermentino Colli di Luni, Chianti dei Colli Senesi, Cinqueterre Sciacchetrà, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Brunello di Montalcino, Morellino di Scansano, and Vinsanto del Chianti, alongside top-tier wines like brut sparkling wine, Merlot, and an array of red, white, sweet, and rosé varieties. Each wine originates from a specific terroir, and the entire winemaking process—from vineyard to bottle—is meticulously conducted within the estate's own wineries.
Pietraserena also produces IGT Toscana red and white wines, as well as specialties like grappa (both white and riserva), Vinsanto, extra virgin olive oil, Limoncino, and Arancino, reflecting a dedication to quality and tradition in every product.
