Where can you stay at a winery in Emilia-Romagna?

• Opera02, at Levizzano di Castelvetro near Modena: a wine resort with its own acetaia, restaurant and wellness area among the Lambrusco Grasparossa vineyards. Five stays, all with breakfast and an hour in the wellness area.
• Castello di Luzzano, in the Piacenza hills on the border with the Oltrepò Pavese: a night at the estate's agriturismo, a guided visit of the vineyards and cellars and of a small Roman museum, a glass of the estate's wine and breakfast.
• Casa di Noelia, at Predappio in Romagna: a tour of the cellar and of the 18th-century Villa Pandolfa, then a traditional Romagna dinner in the villa with a tasting of 4 organic wines.

What changes between Essence, Cru and Riserva at Opera02?

Each level adds to the one before. The Essence night includes the 75-minute Emilia Experience: the winery, the acetaia, 2 wines and 3 balsamic vinegars with Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Modena. The Cru adds a four-course dinner with paired wines. The Riserva adds, the next morning, a visit to TerraQuilia in Guiglia, a small organic winery that makes ancestral method sparkling wines. The two-night weekends add a Parmigiano Reggiano dairy and the Ferrari Museum in Maranello.

When is the best time to go?

From spring to autumn for the hills, with the Lambrusco harvest in September and October; in summer Opera02 also opens its infinity pool. The food side works all year: balsamic vinegar ages in the acetaie in every season, and Parmigiano Reggiano is made every day.

How do you get there?

Opera02 is about 30 minutes from Modena and an hour from Bologna, and a transfer can be added to most of its stays. For Luzzano and Predappio you need a car.
