More information on Lugana

Located between the provinces of Brescia and Verona, the Lugana wine area is an ideal destination if you’re looking for exciting wine tastings and tours in the area surrounding Lake Garda. Here, where once laid the ancient Lucana forest, you will be able to admire a soothing landscape, where vineyards and olive groves overlook the turquoise waters of Garda.

During your Lugana wine tastings, you will discover how this appellation of origin is characterized by vigorous, clear aromas, such as the ones of almonds and lemon, good acidity, and a pale straw yellow color with greenish reflections, which turn into golden hues in the Superiore and Riserva. Overall, the DOC includes Lugana, Lugana Superiore, Lugana Riserva, Vendemmia Tardiva (Late Harvest), and Spumante (sparkling).

Which wines to taste in Lugana?

During your winery visits in Lugana, you will have the opportunity to admire several rows of Turbiana, which is what the white variety Trebbiano is called locally. While the disciplinary of Lugana DOC allows the use of up to 10% of other complementary, non-aromatic grape varieties, many producers have chosen to produce their Lugana wine exclusively with this single variety to best express the characteristics of the local terroir.
