Tenuta Mattei is a historic winery nestled in the scenic hills of the Marche region, near Ancona. This family-run estate has deep roots in the area, with a winemaking tradition that dates back to the early 20th century. The story of Tenuta Mattei began when Danilo's grandfather started cultivating vineyards and fields on his property, initially selling the grape harvest to local wineries. In the late 1950s, Danilo's father, Mario, alongside his wife Maria, expanded the vineyard area and began producing and selling wine directly, first in the local market and then throughout Italy. Today, Tenuta Mattei spans 100 hectares of vineyards, including prestigious grape varieties such as Verdicchio, Lacrima, Montepulciano, Sangiovese, and Merlot. The winery produces approximately 1,150,000 bottles of wine each year, a testament to its significant presence in the Italian wine industry. The estate's location, between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine mountains, offers a unique terroir that greatly influences the quality and character of its wines. Visitors to Tenuta Mattei can immerse themselves in the rich history and tradition of Marches winemaking, experiencing firsthand the passion and dedication that have defined this family estate for generations.

Azienda Agricola Colleonorato's origins are deeply rooted in a century-long family history of working the land. The founder, born above a winery established in 1900, pursued a degree in Economics and Marketing in agro-industries without initially intending to make wine. Yet, her family's long-standing connection to agriculture, passed down through generations, ultimately led her to cultivate her passion for winemaking. Colleonorato was born from the need to honor her family’s past and embrace her love for nature. The winery is situated along Via Colleonorato, the very place of the founder's birth and the site of the new state-of-the-art winery dedicated to producing their flagship Verdicchio wines: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore in two labels, “Prologo” and “La Giostra,” as well as the Rosso Piceno labeled “Il Cortese.” A deep partnership with Luca, who shares in the management of the vineyard, helps to fuel the winery’s innovative approach. Together, they push boundaries to create a Verdicchio that balances tradition and unconventional choices, producing wines that reflect both the region's rich legacy and modern techniques. At Colleonorato, winemaking is seen as an art form, designed to create sensory orchestrations that blend tradition with contemporary craftsmanship. The winery prides itself on continuous innovation, transforming Verdicchio into a showcase for creativity while preserving the fundamental roots of traditional, artisanal production. This philosophy of constantly striving for the highest quality fuels their journey to produce wines that harmoniously combine balance, intensity, and aroma, evoking the essence of their land.

Our activity as winemakers began in the mid-‘60s, when our harvest was still sold to other wineries. With the passing of time and the increasing passion and love for our marvellous area, in 1972, we decided to make use of our own grapes. The owners Donatella Sartarelli and her husband Patrizio Chiacchiarini manage the company themselves, along with the help of the oenologist Alberto Mazzoni, and of all the dedicated vineyard workers engaged in the various stages from pruning to harvest, and the winery workers involved in the several working phases. Donatella and Patrizio’s children, Caterina and Tommaso, have also joined this team. They are both guided by the same passion and motivation, but have separate skills and abilities. In this way with commitment and family devotion we form all together a close and distinctive team who take great pride in their daily work. The company is situated in Poggio San Marcello at 350 metres above sea level, comprising 55 hectares of vineyards and 6 hectares of olive groves with 2.300 plants. Geographically our company and our vineyards are located on the hills on the west side of the Esino river, which is the classic area where the wine DOC “Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi” is produced. Coste del Molino, Tralivio and Balciana are the names of the districts, where our vineyards are planted on steep sloping hill sides. This is our root, our culture and the land which has raised us and taught us those values according to which we still lead our lives and do every single thing. We are from here.

The history of Fattoria le Terrazze begins in 1882 on the foothills of Monte Conero in Numana at the time when the present winery was built. Ever since the end of the nineteenth century the Terni family has been producing Montepulciano grapes which find their natural habitat in the area. Under the attentive guidance of winemakers, Federico Curtaz, today Antonio and Georgina Terni produce around 90.000 bottles of wine per year from hand-picked grapes grown on the farm’s vineyards which extend to around 16 hectares. The Conero region is a particularly favourable area for the production of red wines so it’s hardly surprising that the winery’s most representative wine is Rosso Conero which is available as Rosso Conero DOC and as Sassi Neri Conero Riserva DOCG. Alongside these wines, the winery also produces IGT Marche Chaos made from a blend of Montepulciano, Syrah and Merlot grapes, a Chardonnay named Le Cave, the new rosé Pinkfluid and a traditional method sparkler Donna Giulia, obtained from Montepulciano grapes. Fattoria Le Terrazze also produces an excellent quality extra virgin olive oil which is obtained from the Frantoio, Leccino and Pendolino varieties grown in the farm’s surrounding olive groves.

Montecappone Company was founded at the end of the 1960's in Jesi. In 1997 the company was purchased by the Bomprezzi - Mirizzi family who immediately started restoring and expanding the existing winery; they also planned a program for renewal of the vineyard. Montecappone presently has more than 70 hectares of vines along the hills around the Castles of Jesi. The company has its own vinification canteen with the most advanced technology so as to give the most accurate evaluation of the grapes. Careful selection of the grapes in the vineyard, low production per hectare, experimentation both in the vineyard and in winery, technical support from qualified professionals combined with that "passion for wine", which has always been characteristic of the family itself: these are the essential elements that distinguish our wines.

FAZI BATTAGLIA’s history begins in 1949 at Cupramontana and, since it was born, it’s always been related to the top quality Marche wine, the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico, a type of wine up until now not popular but nowadays well known all over the world thanks to the typical amphora shaped bottle created by our company. A qualified wine production was only the first step towards an increasing success, so much so that in 1956 the company moved to Castelplanio to a bigger modern plant and started buying selected fields that today spread to 280 hectares.

The wine producing company was founded in 1955 by Giovanni Piersanti and his children Silveria and Carlo, who had already acquired a notable expertise in the field of sparkling wines. Later on Carlo’s sons, Giuliano and Ottavio, took over the business. They have inherited from their father the passion for hard work receiving great satisfaction in return. In the beginning the wine house was no more than a room, where mostly sparkling wines were bottled, since they were the most popular. In the mid eighties, by following more and more demanding market requirements, Piersanti enlarged its premises and built a modern warehouse of more than 2,000 sq. m., which has now become the core of the business, with a capacity of over 20,000 quintals of wine in stainless steel tanks. Located on the south-western side of Staffolo, a small town in the hinterland of Ancona district, Tre Castelli (Three Castles) Winery, alias “Vignedileo” (Leo’s vineyards), has been producing Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi for over 30 years, red wines with Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes, Vino di Visciola from wild cherries and a high quality Extra-Virgin Olive Oil. United to its territory, land and family traditions, the Winery owns today 40 productive hectars in total of 100, which makes 150.000 bottles per year, 60% is distributed to the inner market and for the remaining part in foreign markets and the quality makes its own philosophy. One century of history. The Cimarelli Family, native of Staffolo and Palpacelli Family, native of Jesi are one of Tre Castelli (Three Castles) Wineries , this is the history of two families of wine-growers whose shared passion for wine brought them together. The respective agricultural businesses of cultivation and production of Verdicchio grapes are dated back to one century ago when the current owner’s great grandfather had started planting Verdicchio in order to vinificate his own grapes with tools and techniques used in selling wine to local market. As the tradition imposed in that time, along the years, Family lands and vineyards have been always handed down from father to son so the family businesses saw growth and prosperity, as the lives of the family business started to weave together .Initially, the two families became more united though the marriage of their children and the families grew together and became closely knit which paved a pathway for their joint business devolpment. This union brought the two vinyards from Jesi to Staffolo which united them in 1990- Creating -the Tre Castelli (Three Castels Winery). It is well known to its own vineyards at the three different castles Jesi, Montecarotto and Staffolo, as they are the most important sites in terms of history and wine. The Tre Castelli Winery, as we know today, was given birth in 1990 by the spouses Leonardo Palpacelli and Maria Adele Cimarelli, in the photo above together with their parents. All the credit is owed to these two essential characters as, in that time, they had moved the whole family business to Staffolo, where they are now, in order to concentrate and expand the vineyard hectars around the winery. When Leonardo sadly passed away in 1990, his sons Emanuele and Gianfilippo founded the brand “Vignedileo” by themselves; In their father’s honour, going ahead with the family business once again and still carrying it on today turning it into a strong, innovative, dynamic and modern dimension. Therefore, these two families’s history is extremely intertwined to the native vine Verdicchio, the main ccompany which is currently being carried on by the firstborn Emanuele, flanked by his younger brother Gianfilippo, both leading the Family Winery today. haracter of this history. Telling a century of history and a century of viticulture is not simple nor possible in few lines. Try to imagine that a part of the vineyards where we work today is the same land the Cimarelli Family had been cultivating 100 years ago. The Winery you see today is the result of plenty of historical phases, many harvests, constant daily work ; Moreover alot of gratification and a sense of achievement. For this reason, the winery has to be visited and lived because each wine bottle has its own history to tell. The heart of the Winery is made with daily love for the viticulture, made by work ethic, skills and efficiency on vineyards and in cellar and by an extreme market reliability. This impeccabile ettiquite has brought the Winery where today it is. The most Imperative aspects: products quality, agronomic trial, vineyard care, innovative growth and vinification techniques, market development, packaging care, cork and labels selections, environment, territory and the respect of traditions. We strongly believe the raw material quality, the bunch of grapes, is the base for a quality wine. The Vine is like a human being…it’s affected by the surrounding environment so we are only able to understand its elboratness only after long time. Therefore, only a healthy vine, well rooted on its best soil and well adapted to the microclimate around, may offer its highest potential in development, ripening, aromas and scents terms in its own dna.

(Winery in Ancona)

The unique and recognisable style of our wines originates in the Marche region, in a town: Belvedere Ostrense, on the hills overlooking the sea at 250 meters above sea level, North of Jesi in the province of Ancona. For centuries the vines have been growing in abundance in this environment, because of the many hours of sunshine, alternated by cool nights and sea breezes that mitigate the bad weather of the colder months. This ideal climate is combined with a great vocation and the variation of the earth, from the loose and limy soil ideal for red berries vines to the clay and of medium consistency ones suitable for the white berries vines. We only add one thing to these favourable conditions in order to produce our wines, the passion that has always more and more involved us during these years of experience during which we have improved our vine cultivation and wine enology techniques. The company was founded in the fifties by Sergio Landi who owned 4 hectares of land cultivating the typical vines of this area such as the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, which was very much appreciated for its qualities by Federico Barbarossa in 1167. Nowadays the grandson Luciano manages the company, which covers a territory of 20 hectares, of which 16 hectares with vines. From traditional vine growing, we expanded thanks to new techniques, with 5.500 plants per ha cultivated by spurred cordon with a production of about 1,5 Kg. of grapes per vine. After the new cantina, built in 1994 for the production of wine, an underground cellar was created for the 'l'elevage' of wines in vintage wood and then ageing in the bottle. The whole production process is managed with great attention in order to best enhance the potential of each grape of each harvest and to give our wines character traits of style and quality.
