What is the difference between Prosecco DOC and DOCG?
Prosecco DOC covers a large area of Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. The hills make the higher category, Prosecco Superiore DOCG, in two zones: Conegliano Valdobbiadene and Asolo. All are made mainly from the Glera grape. The Conegliano Valdobbiadene hills have been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2019.
What are cicchetti?
Small bites served with a glass of wine in Venice and across Veneto, such as crostini, cured meats or cheese. At Al Capitello they come with the tasting.
When is the best time to go?
Spring, when the steep hills are green, and September, when Glera is picked. Venice and Treviso are the nearest airports, and you need a car to move between the estates.
