The implant of the vineyards begins at the end of the nineties; in five years 7 hectares of vines are implanted to produce DOCG Morellino di Scansano grapes. At that time all new plantations followed the same trends: high plant density, irrigation and choice of "international" varieties. We preferred another way. Our vineyards comply with traditional planting distances, with a maximum of 3,500 plants per hectare, and are not provided with irrigation. We started grafting vines with material from old vineyards in the area. Today beside Sangiovese we have a small amount of Alicante, which characterizes the blend of our wine. Our production style entails allowing the vines to express their full potential, and directing the production only through agricultural techniques and selective thinning. The absence of irrigation enables us to have a wine that expresses the flavors of the vintage, different every year depending on weather conditions.

"My greatest desire has always been to get really into the countrylife, to have my own vineyard, to work on it, to wait for its fruits and follow it growing, gathering color, perfumes and substance and then to get it ready to be turned into something unique and magic : The Wine My feeling is that being a wine grower is like writing a poem, a song, or painting a picture. It's the art of turning dreams, desires, emotions and love into something real and to turn what seems to be impossible into something possible. The perfect masterpiece."

Cupirosso
(Weingut in Grosseto)

Award-winning, fine artisanal wines that are certified organic, sustainable, low sulfites and vegan. Made with love and care in the Maremma Toscana by Irene de Gasparis e Christian Mouthuy, passionate, hands on , “vignerons” that chose native varietals, like Vermentino and Sangiovese and the unusual Alicante. Cupirosso is the result  of love and patience of its owner and winemaker, Irene de Gasparis, who bought it with the goal to restore, preserve  and give a new life, in the total respect of the environment, to this little piece of Maremma.  Along the way came on board Christian Mouthuy. An engineer by education, after many years spent as an international management consultant, he wished to live a simple life close to nature. So, starting from scratch, a green and sustainable boutique winery was born, with the mission to produce fine organic wines respectful of the tradition and the environment but open to innovation, with the goal to get the (impossible) perfection. While Irene is the sensorial soul of Cupirosso, in charge of the administrative and commercial aspects of the winery, Christian is its technical genius and is focused on its operations. Both share a deep passion for wine and a stubborness for achieving the best (that’s why they discuss often).    From the planting of the first vine on uncultivated land, cultivation and vinification are completely organic and Cupirosso is organic certified. We chose native grape varietals in armony with the terroir and the microclimate. Sangiovese and Vermentino, classical expression of the area were planted along the unusual Alicante (Grenache). We believe also that the “natives” could gain something from the presence of a foreigner. So we planted Cabernet Franc, another unusual choice in comparison to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that have become so common in Tuscany. Both Irene and Christian work first hand in the vineyard and in the cellar. Vinification, done entirely in the property, is organic and uses traditional and “state of the art” tecniques to allow the grape to express their full potential and to assure the high quality of Cupirosso wines. We built a small but innovative, temperature controlled, sustainable cellar and the vinification, aging and packaging is made entirely in the estate, only with our grapes, to ensure a strict quality control.   We welcome visitors in our cellar and tasting room. The visit is conducted personally by Irene or Christian, the owners/winemakers that will share all their knowledge with the visitors.

All the grapes are organically grown exclusively on our own vineyards. We take care about the environment that entrust to us by our children. The respect of nature and consummer's health are responsibilities for everyone who works in agriculture. We have also certified the cellar and today all our wines brings the organic EU "leaf".

Val di Toro was born in 2003, out of the passion of Anna Maria Cruciata and her husband, Hugh Constable Maxwell. A passion that brought them to the Maremma, where they bought their estate, then chose the best parts of it to plant to produce the most suitable vines adapted to the land. From the beginning trying to use as little added products as possible, to now the full conversion to organic status. 10 hectares today, out of a total of 25 owned, in order to produce two red wines, Val di Toro and Morellino di Scansano DOCG Reviresco, a white Auramaris and a rose, Alfa Tauri. Hugh and Anna Maria live at Val di Toro and dedicate themselves full time to the productive activities. The winery is at the heart of the estate, in which this passion for the land and respect for the terroir transforms, grows and evolves, to make the great wines of Val di Toro. A productive process done with care and attention to detail at every phase of work, combining perfectly with the best techniques of vinification and in which one sees also the experience and competence of the consulting oenologists Maurizio Castelli and Gabriele Gadenz.

Arillo in Terrabianca is a prestigious winery in the heart of the most authentic Tuscany owned by Adriana and Urs Burkard. It is 2019 when the Burkards initiate the Arillo in Terrabianca project with the acquisition of the estates Terrabianca in Chianti Classico, Tenuta il Tesoro in Maremma and Tenuta Colle Brezza in Val d'Orcia. The aim is simple though ambitious: to make, wines with a strong identity and with a distinct territorial imprint following the principles of organic and minimalist wine growing, fostering those native grape varieties that find their best distinctive characteristics in the Tuscan territories. Sustainability is for Arillo in Terrabianca a daily choice that embraces the entire life cycle of the wine, from soil to bottle, through an integral approach of respect for the territory and in harmony with Nature. Arillo observed and analysed the ecosystems that surround its estates, taking care of the biodiversity and fertility of the soils and working on the “cover crop” of the land. The process of organic conversion of the Tenuta il Tesoro and Tenuta Terrabianca begun in 2020: today, the estates are already organic certified. Caring for the territory also implies preserving the existing vineyards and enhancing the distinctiveness of the terroirs. The Arillo’s intervention model is based on two principles: exclusive use of  elements of natural origin and the minimization of human interventions on land to recover biodiversity and vitality functions. Tenuta Colle Brezza, in Pienza, was already organic certified for over ten years. Just a few kilometres from Massa Marittima, in the heart of the Upper Maremma and the Tuscan Mining UNESCO Geopark, lies Tenuta il Tesoro, centred on natural viticulture and the reinstatement of native soils and agricultural products. It covers an area of approximately 115 hectares at an altitude of up to 140 metres above sea level and it is characterised by different types of soil (stone and clay) rich in minerals such as iron and magnesium. The 36 hectares of vineyards are spread over different heights with a predominantly southern exposure, and benefit from special climatic conditions - proximity to the sea, constant ventilation, strong temperature fluctuations - that allow the cultivation of healthy, fragrant and slowly ripening grapes.

Tenuta La Badiola lies in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, south Tuscany. It is located in a delightful natural setting of gently rolling hills carpeted in olive groves and vineyards that alternate rhythmically northwards to become dense Mediterranean macchia, mysterious, wild and often severe. Here the scents of the Tuscan countryside blend with the salty smell of the Mediterranean Sea, stimulating the senses and whispering to the soul. The view from the estate stretches as far as the eye can see, to where the turquoise of the waves merges with the intense blue of the Tuscan sky. As you gaze into the distance, you cannot fail to spy the ancient town of Castiglione della Pescaia, which has been awarded the top score of "five blue sails" by the Legambiente guide and Touring Club Italiano due to its clear water, clean beaches and historic heritage.

The inspiration comes from the Castle, but our hearts are devoted to wine. The seven hectares of vineyard in Maremma, which were uncontaminated wooded hills before we arrived, are grown according to organic farming dictates. Five different grape-varieties are planted at an average density of 12,000 plants per hectare. Three wines narrate our home, our aspirations and our dreams. All of this is Castello di Vicarello vinery but, before that, all this is who we are.
