5 Amazing experince in Douro Valley (Szymon)This was really one of the best highlights of my trip to Portugal. In this remote but beautiful place, we met with Rafael, who has been running this winery – which has been a family business for years. What is amazing is that their winery is focused on sustainability – they not only make wine, but also grow crops, make olive oil, and raise their own meat. We had a really amazing time that started with an introduction to the types of wine and all the details about differences in winemaking and harvesting. Later, we moved on to the wine tasting where we chatted about wines and many other topics for more than an hour, while eating and drinking really delicious wines – 4 types of them, actually. Each of them was amazing, and after the experience, we bought all four of them :) Now, after getting back to Poland, we really enjoy those wines while recalling the great time we had in Portugal and the Douro Valley. Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a great wine tasting!

5 A most excellent wine/ port tasting experience ! (Jenny)The vineyard looked most beautiful with not only endless vine spear over the valley. The local fruit trees looked wonderful as this is a family run vineyard over many years. The place we enjoyed our 6 wine/ port tasting was wide and open with great view! The wines and ports we tasted were excellent and the portion generous as well as the plentiful nibbles accompanied with every and each wine or port. They can’t youwere both thoughtful , tasty and generous in portion. We had a most excellent time and would visit when we return in the area next !!

5 An intimate, one-on-one experience . . . with great wine! (Terrie)We absolutely loved our tasting and chat with Rafael at this winery. Don't be fooled when you drive up - the initial impression is that of a somewhat run-down, deserted location and that you're at the wrong place! However, after meeting up with Rafael, he gave a detailed explanation of the vineyards (complete with great views!) followed by an amazing food and wine tasting experience in their beautiful, historic tasting room. And by "tasting room", I mean the old dining table off the old family kitchen, complete with wood-burning fireplace "oven" - it was like stepping back in time! Rafael is a master at explaining and experiencing the joys of food and wine pairing, and the conversation was lively and interesting. I would highly recommend this tasting if you shun the large, commercial wineries (like we do) and prefer a very small, family-owned, intimate experience. Bonus - the wines are fabulous too!

5 Authentic winery and giod wine (Pietro)The atmosphere is very warm and intimate; the guided tour was wonderful, and we learned about the history of this place. We really liked that it’s a small winery. The tasting was excellent, accompanied by a generous platter of appetizers. Kudos to the guide, he was very friendly, knowledgeable, and down-to-earth. It is a true authentic spot, off the beaten tourist path!

5 Fantastic relaxed winery hospitality (Denis)Big thanks to the folks at Quinta da Portela who were both friendly and knowledgeable. We were walked through the onsite museum and learned about the multi-generation history of this winery; interesting to see artifacts of the wine business and how equipment has changed across the decades. The great pleasure of our visit was a wonderfully relaxed and leisurely seated tour of their sparkling, still and fortified wines as well as their olive oil. These were deftly accompanied by delicious local food products both savoury and sweet on their hilltop outdoor patio. Highly recommended!

5 Nice experience (Melody)The wine tasting was a small intimate experience with one of the brothers, Rafael. he reached out to us the day before our original tour & asked to reschedule to Saturday. Having only limited time in the Douro valley, we changed our schedule & other tours to accommodate him so that we would not lose out on the experience. Since we changed it to Saturday night, I felt like he really did not want to be there. It was clear he did not have any other tours scheduled. It was only us. I felt like we were rushed and he just wasn’t into it. It was very matter of fact. We travel to different wine countries every year, Spain, Greece, Italy, always shipping 12+ wines back. I was interested in purchasing wines and going over more wines, but he was not. Sadly we did not make a purchase. Instead, we visited another vineyard on our way out the following day. Had a great experience and made our purchase there..

5 Wine tasting (Marta)We were at a wine tasting experience in August, and it was amazing. The lady who guided us was very friendly, funny, and her knowledge about the winery and Port wine was outstanding. The winery itself is beautiful. We had the opportunity to try six different types of wine (with snacks). I strongly recommend this place and the tour. We even bought a bottle to remember this experience.

5 Wine Tasting (David)We met Rafael and his team at the location. Rafael took time to give us the history of the Qunita and his family. He took us into the house. We tasted five wines, three white and two red. We also had bread, jam, olive oil, cheese, and some meat to go with the wines. Rafael is very knowledgeable about the wines and the area. We had a great conversation and history lesson. My wife and I have done wine tastings around the world, yet this one is in our top 5 experiences. Rafael shared so many fine points with us. This is for sure a wine tasting not to miss. We expect to back in the area in 2026 and will for sure do another tasting with Rafael and his team.

5 Recommended visit (Irene)It was generally a bit more expensive than than the other near by choices we had but it was worthy. There is a nice river view and the scacks given were great. It was just us so we have the full attention, the host was very friendly, he sat and chatted with us and was ready to reply any questions. We really enjoy the wine in this peaceful small winery.

5 Wonderful Visit (Lisa)We stayed here on an overnight visit to Douro. The rooms were small, but comfortable. The breakfast buffet was ample, with lots of pastries, fruit, hot foods, etc. The onsite wine-tasting cost a small amount, but it's worth doing to try their wine and port.

5 Picknick in the vineyard (Ivo)We went in a tour @Soito yesterday. Eventhough it is a small producer, they leave nothing to coinsidence - every detail in the process is well thought out and completely in line with their wishes for the final product- as it should be! This is also the case for their tours. Very knowledgeable young lady, ever so kind and very keen to answer your questions. Tour itself was short, but complete! After the tour, we got to choose from 3 types of wine to accompany our picknick - tip: of you don’t know which one to pick: GO FOR THE ROSE!!! Very delightful and fresh! Then it was time for the picknick - that is quitte the experience, we had the entire vineyard to ourselves! Very peaceful and quiet, with more food than one could possibly eat….very well executed, delicious Food and, as stated, even better rose!!! Would recommend any time!

5 An emersive and personalised vineyard experience (Ivan)From the moment you arrive it is clear that this is no ordinary wine-tasting tour. Rafael welcomes you to the family home with open arms and a smile. He takes you for a brief stroll around the vineyards and gives both a history of the company and some great insights into the growing and production processes. At no point does it feel like scripted patter, and his passion is evident. Then back into the family home, where you are provided with great food and a fun tasting experience which feels like you're with a close personal friend. Rafael offers great insights into food and wine pairings and isn't at all technical or condescending. You'll come away feeling like you'll always be welcome back, and there is no hard-sell of the produce. The wines themselves are of really high quality, and have been added my import list!.. The tastings at other quintas felt more sterile in comparison. This is not a place to miss!!

5 Great wine tasting (Rebecca)We had a wonderful time with Raffaela at his vineyard. We were shown around the vineyard, learnt about the different ways the vines are grown and a bit about wine in the Douro region. The tasting was brilliant - we tasted 4 different wines and there was great bread, cheese and olive oil - grown at the vineyard - to go with it. A fabulous first experience of Douro - I would definitely go back!

5 Perfect afternoon of wine, food and conversation (Constance)Our party of four just spent a wonderful afternoon with Rafael of Maõs e Irmãos. The quinta is a very short walk from the Rede train station and the setting is bucolic. We were provided very generous tastings of five of their wines - a rose, three whites and a red - served alongside cheeses, ham and prepared bites from their working farm. Rafa (one of the "irmãos") was a very engaging host and forward-thinking winemaker who shared his visions of what they are trying to accomplish in both "the (overall) project" of the winery/farm and the individual wines. Really interesting and impossible not to swept up in his excitement for both. A wonderful afternoon and highly recommended.

5 Perfect wine tasting (Nicole)We arrived late to the winery (road construction) so we missed the tour of the grapevines. The owner Rafael and his staff were extremely gracious and seated us poolside with a beautiful spread of homemade food while we began our tasting. 5 impeccably crafted wines that we all enjoyed. A quick rest breathing the fresh air of the Douro river and the beautiful scenery and we were off! Do not miss this experience!

5 Best winery experience (Laura)We booked for a premium tasting but didn't expect the warm, engaging, family experience we received! Rafa was an amazing host, we had a tour of the winery and house, lots of information on the local area. We then joined Rafa at his kitchen table for tasting of 5 wines paired with the best food we've had in Portugal. Highly, highly recommend it. If you are visiting the Douro area you have to make sure you visit.

5 Our visit was unforgettable!! (Nicole)Our visit was unforgettable! The owner was happy to welcome us even though there has been a problem with our reservation and he quickly found an alternative solution to do the wine tasting to us. At our arrival we were offered a cold glass of rosé by the swimming pool in the sun before we could move to the vineyard tour. We then continued with the wine tasting accompanied with a very abundant planche of homemade appetisers (cheese, jam, oil and chorizo) and some other main curses were offered to us. Food and wine was definitely the best we had in Portugal during our stay. The team made us feel welcomed in an amazing family owner property, with traditional vibes and great attentions !! Would definitely recommend and hope to be back again soon

5 The best tasting we have participated in (Maria)We were pleasantly surprised by this tasting, as we chose it without any references. The hostess, Cristina, was very knowledgeable and was very kind and patient, speaking slowly so that I could understand Portuguese. The place, spectacular, and the tasting, super complete, with six wines perfectly paired with a different appetizer for each one. Without a doubt, the best tasting we have participated in.

5 Simply excellent! (Guylaine)I had booked for 4 people for the tasting of 3 quality wines. To my great surprise, it was only the 4 of us with Rafael who welcomed us warmly. I have visited a few vineyards and this one is my favorite for its simplicity, its authenticity, its beauty and its delicious wines. Rafael showed us a wonderful way to appreciate and taste wine with perfect pairings. He knows how to convey his passion, and his family history is all the more interesting. I highly recommend Mãos E Irmãos, as you will be transported back in time by the place, the history, and all the beauty of the Douro Valley. Thank you Rafael, it's a real favorite ❤️

5 Charming vineyard (Amandine)When we arrived, we thought we were in the wrong place because it seemed abandoned, but we were welcomed by the cook and we were pleasantly surprised by the place: it was magnificent and everything was original. We felt like we were really in their home and the people were super nice. There is also a pool and animals out back, for the kids it's great! They were also super open to our children (2 years and 6 months). I would go back anytime! We loved it!
