Wine Tour Sicilian Wines And Sea Salt
Here is what you will live
A special wine day tour is waiting for you here in Sicily!
This morning, you will be driven out to the Salt Pans located on the coastline between the cities of Trapani and Marsala. Locals extract the salt from the seawater following the same procedure used by the ancient Greeks and Phoenicians who once colonized this part of the Sicily. You will visit the windmills used to move the salt through the pans and enjoy lunch with a magnificent view of the sea.
Then you will arrive at the Tenuta Gorghitondi one of the most fascinating wine estates in Sicily, located within the WWF Nature Reserve since 1998. Annamaria and Carla Sala are the third generation that caries through the traditions and the passion for winemaking and earth. Being part of the WWF Nature Reserve the land where the Tenuta is built is a clear example of a unique, harmonious and complete balance between natural landscape and winemaking.
Open lands, red clay and breeze from the sea, in full sun, with vineyards as far as the eye can see, interspersed with small woods of Mediterranean shrubland, wetlands and Saracen olive trees. Gorghi Tondi is the unspoiled habitat of an extreme Sicily, beautiful and charming. Living it out is an experience embracing wine culture, protection of land, beauty of the landscape. Experiencing wine to Gorghi Tondi is particularly valuable: the care in the visit of the cellar and proposal tastings in the wine cellar are a sign of passionate and careful hospitality for people. Mazara del Vallo city with its historic center, the archaeological areas of Segesta and Selinunte and the beautiful coast with crystal and clear sea, make Gorghi Tondi an unmissable wine tourism destination.
At Tenuta Gorghi Tondi winemaking becomes an artful combination of understanding the earth and being able to use the latest technology and tools. It is a truly remarkable cooperation between the human knowledge and the power of nature. The area and the climate contribute to create unique, awarded wines like Grillo d'Oro, a white wine made from Grillo grapes affected by Botrytis Cinerea or Sorante, a 100% Nero d'Avola wine with heraldic name. Enjoy a lunch at Winery.
After lunch and tasting you'll be driven back at your hotel
