Our hosts Antonella and Daniela were entertained us with explanations and details of their approach to growing vineyards and vegetables and how they scientifically managed necessary work. They really are caring toward their land. The dinner was superb rendering an authentic taste of naturally grown foods. The dinner al fresco is to be remembered by myself and my other three companions.

5 We had an amazing time! (Michael)We loved the Arancini Cooking Class among the Vines at Tenuta Bastonaca, The class was fun. The learning was easy and enjoyable because of the great instructor, and the arancini was delicious. Wine tasting included a lovely walk in the vineyards and an interesting tour of the cellars. The wine was so good that we bought a case. They also make olive oil and jam and we got some of those items as well. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable and eager to answer questions. I would highly recommend this experience.

5 Delicious and amazing family-run winery! (Eesha)My friend and I visited Cantina Fausta Mansio for the 9-wine tasting and it was exceptional! Olaf, the owner, was brilliant! He presented each wine indiviudally and told us about the grapes, their history and the production process of the wines. He was incredibly friendly, informative and happily answered all the questions we had! Each wine was paired with a local tapas-like small dish made by Olaf's wife, All of them were delicious and paired amazingly with the wine. Each dish tasted incredibly fresh and the olive oil used in the food was also produced in the vineyard! The location was great, it was easy and fairly quick (15-20 minutes) to reach by taxi from Siracusa. The surroundings were beautiful and very peaceful. Olaf and his wife created a comforting and lovely ambience surrounded by nature. We were lucky enough to hear Olaf's son playing piano during the tasting and he was amazing! It added to the peaceful feeling. I definitely recommend this tasting for a fun and interesting activity to do when visiting Siracusa!

3 A Lovely and Authentic Sicilian Wine Experience (Quincy)We had a lovely experience visiting this beautiful, rustic winery in Sicily. We were warmly welcomed and received a clear and interesting explanation of the winemaking process, including information about where the different grapes are grown. We did miss a brief personal introduction at the beginning, as the experience moved almost immediately into the details of winemaking. We had expected the visit to have a more relaxed seated wine tasting. Instead, the tasting took place while standing between the wine barrels. We also used the same glass for each wine, meaning the group had to wait until everyone had finished before moving on to the next one. A seated tasting area and separate glasses, or a way to rinse them between wines, could make the experience feel a little more relaxed. The small snacks and cheeses served alongside the wines were a very nice addition. Our personal favourites were the red wines. After the tasting, we had to wait for the temperature to cool down a little before visiting the vineyard. It was very thoughtful that folding chairs and tables were available to be put outside in the shade, where we could sit, relax and enjoy some of the wine we had purchased. One thing we were particularly looking forward to was the olive oil tasting. Unfortunately, this was not available because it was not the right season and the olive harvest had been relatively small that year, so the available oil had to be used sparingly. We completely understand the reason, although it was still a little disappointing as this had been one of the experiences we were excited about. We also expected a little more from the vineyard visit itself. We were not entirely sure beforehand what it would involve, but in practice it consisted mainly of walking across the road to see the vines and then returning to the winery. It could be a nice addition to spend a little more time there and explain the grape varieties, growing conditions or vineyard work while walking through the vines. Overall, the hospitality was excellent. We especially appreciated being able to stay at the outdoor foldable tables afterwards while waiting for our taxis. It was a relaxed and welcoming end to the visit, and we really enjoyed the setting, the wines and the friendly atmosphere.

5 Refreshing in every way! (Susanna)We enjoy wine. We make wine a destination when we travel - and also at home in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. Our visit to Fausta Mansio was beyond expectations. Owner and winemaker, Olaf, greeted us warmly and told us about this family owned winery and the history of the local grapes. (Visit to learn the details.) Then came the tasting. Each wine was excellently paired with a delightful offering prepared by Olaf's wife, Paula. Everything we knew about the Moscato grape was replaced by a new understanding of what can be done with it in the hands of a gifted winemaker. Dry, well-balanced, refreshing! All four of the wines we tasted were expertly crafted. We shared wine, food and conversations like old friends. I highly recommend you discover Fausta Mansio when you're in the beautiful city of Siracusa.

5 "Arancini Cooking Class among the Vines at Tenuta Bastonaca, winetasting and lunch" (Michael)What a wonderful time learning how to make Arancini both by hand and using molds. Our hostess was knowledgeable, friendly, easy going and patient! She was amazing ! While the arancini was cooking, she took us on a winery and vineyard tour which ended at a table setup for wine tasting and a tasting pairing of snacks and our arancini! The wines were all wonderful - we even ordered some to be shipped back home! Thanks again to our hostess for a fabulous time!

4 Cosy, Family Wnetasting (Murdo)Arrived early for the tasting but this was no problem to Rolf, the owner, who greeted us and adjusted his schedule to suit. We had the five wine, five home made tapas option pairing food flavours to the wines. Rolf presented each wine in a casual but informative way, his English is very good so he could answer any questions and discuss the wines with us. No tour was offered, just sitting on the patio under a canopy tasting five lovely wines - two each of white and red and a rose. It is a small winery producing 20-25,000 bottles a year. Other groups were present during our 3 hour visit but this was not a problem. The vineyard is about a 15 minute drive or taxi ride from Siracusa Ortigia, no public transport options as it is in the countryside.

3 We expected a bit more (Rosemarie)Thanks to Anita's very comprehensive and informative descriptions and explanations, we were able to gain a lot of insights into the production of biological wines, as well as the history of the cantina. However, we were a little disappointed that the walk through the vineyards wasn't more than taking a few steps away from the cantina. In addition, the brunch didn't really include very typical Sicilian dishes and the pasta course wasn't inspiring either. The cantina itself and the vineyards are very beautiful. On the whole, a very enjoyable experience

Our hostess had a lot of great information for us, not only about the wine and winery but other amazing towns and experiences throughout Italy. The food was delicious, from the first to last course! The cook even did a special pasta dish for our daughter. Their wine is one of our favorites now and we can't wait to share with friends and family.

5 Small Nero D'Avola winery (Kenneth)Highly recommend visiting this small winery. Its different from the usual commercial sized wineries and hence offers a more intimate experience. The wines are great as well so you will be taking some home with you. You taste 4 different wines and a grappa for a very reasonable price. If you are on the area make it part of your itinerary.

5 Nice experience (Jessica)We were welcomed by the owner of the winery and had a small tour of the vineyard where she explained how they harvest grapes and olives as Tenuta Bastonaca also do olive oil. We then had a lovely meal starting off with appetizers, ravioli, meat and dessert. All courses paired with wine from the Tenuta. The meals were very abundant and flavourful. All in all it was a very nice experience and we rate it a 10/10!
