The wine tasting itself was great - we tried multiple varieties and had tasty local food and homemade olive oil alongside the wine. Having the option to take the shuttle from the train station was really helpful for us. Would visit again :)

5 Can’t Miss Wine Tasting! (Lisa)What an absolutely wonderful experience! This charming little winery, just a half-hour drive from Florence, was one of the highlights of our time in Tuscany. The wine, olive oil, and fresh bread were all incredible, and the hospitality was truly exceptional. Francesca was so warm, welcoming, and passionate about what they do. She was warm, knowledgeable, and engaging, making the entire experience both informative and enjoyable. And if you want to hear the fascinating story of Paolo, a cardiologist turned contractor turned vineyard owner, you’re in for a treat! His journey is as interesting as the winery itself, and learning the history behind it made our visit even more special. Everything about our experience felt authentic, personal, and memorable. It’s the kind of place that makes you fall in love with Tuscany even more. If you’re visiting Florence, this little gem is absolutely worth the short drive into the countryside. We couldn’t recommend it more!

5 A Charming Afternoon of Wine, Olive Oil & Family Hospitality (Iliana)Tenuta Barbadoro is a charming, family-owned vineyard with such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. My friends and I spent a wonderful afternoon with the owners, enjoying generous pours of their wine and tasting their delicious olive oil. It was a relaxed, authentic experience that we truly enjoyed. We would absolutely do it again!

5 Intimate & Educational! (Gabriella)The castle and the surrounding vineyards were gorgeous. Our guide was knowledgeable and personable. The flow of the tour was perfect - he was funny, informative, and kept everything lively! The wine was AMAZING. I ended up shipping 6 bottles home to the US and couldn’t help buying up the olive oil. Dining inside the castle walls was quite the experience! One of my sister and my favorite parts of our trip to Italy.

3 Rustic, enjoyable and personal (Deirdre)This was a simple but real life tour of a family owned and run winery. The host’s English was difficult to understand at times but we still enjoyed the tour, his friendliness, and learning about the winery! The location and the surroundings were scenic but simple. The wine was very good and we were able to enjoy 4 different wines and were offered seconds if we desired! Compared to other wineries, it seemed a little more expensive. But I would still recommend visiting!

5 Great experience! (Alessandro)We are very happy to have found tenuta l’Apparita ! A very small and independent wine producer with a special attention to his wine. We loved the Vigna and Cantina visit and of course the tasting itself. Francesca is very knowledgeable about the wine and the process and you can feel she cares a lot about the product and the Chianti territory. She proposed a tasting of the same wine but different vintage and it was really interesting to see how much the wine can change in one year only. We truly recommend to visit this small producer and to taste his excellent San Giovese wine.

5 Incredible experience, beautiful views, delicious wine, friendly service & we got a private tour ! (Jodi)We loved our time at Castello Sonnino! The wine tasting was sooo good - the wines were delicious and the servings were generous. We also got served lovely bruschetta - with their own olive oil and toppings - which were unexpected. The outside area is STUNNING and I recommend sitting out there. When we arrived it was only set up for us and one other table so we had a very calm, private, and special experience. Our server's knowledge and passion for their wines was obvious, and we felt very taken care of. Our wine tasting included a tour of the cellars and we we super lucky as we were the only booking - so we went on a private tour and got to learn so much about the history of the property (like centuries of history!!). Really enjoyed this place. The view was such a shift from being in Florence (where we came from). We also took a bus which was only around an hour long and a short walk from the location. Highly recommend this hidden gem for anyone wanting a Tuscan wine experience and to see something different than the city. This day is one of our most loved memories from our trip.

5 Amazing tasting and beautiful winery (Joshua)Amazing tasting experience at a very small but beautiful vineyard. Everything was explained to us really well and we got to go through all the finer details of how they operate and do the Vendemmia each year. The wine we tasted was beautiful, it is a really well balanced wine and is not like your typical Chianti Classico which we appreciated as it was really hot.

Als erstes ging's in den Weinberg, dann in den Weinkeller und anschließend mit Verkostung der hausgemachten Weine und des Olivenöls. Zudem gab es regionale Appetizer. Die Führung war super toll und wir haben einen Einblick in das Weingut erhalten.

The winery wasn't over crowded, the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The vineyard itself is gorgeous, with beautiful views of the surrounding area. The chianti was great of course... I was worried about getting back to Florence at first, but the staff ordered us a taxi back. I will be back some day, and I can't wait.

Giovanni was an excellent host He was friendly and informative. We enjoyed several wines, a small cheese & meat board as well as their delicious olive oil with fresh bread for dipping. Definitely worth visiting.
