Renato decided to grow Durella, a native variety of the Lessini Mountains that was disappearing because it produced sour and low-quality wines. He, however, strongly believed in the potential of this grape and in 1989 produced the first classic method sparkling wine from Durella grapes.
In 1992 he invented a tool for remuage: a hexagonal basket that rotates 273 bottles by 1/6 of a turn in a single movement. He patented it and it became the official method for Casa Cecchin, as well as the symbol.
Today the company is run by women, with his daughter Roberta and granddaughter Sara continuing the project that began in the 70s.

Masiero is a family estate located in an area of unique beauty, on the hills around Trissino, rising from the Po Valley with the Dolomites in the background. An area suited to viticulture where the soil alternates between limestone and volcanic areas, this unique place gives life to unique wines and the passion is our precious added value.
These local grapes are grown following a modern biodynamic technique. This idea originates from the desire to respect the natural environment, avoiding any possible chemical intervention that could alter the peculiarity of the microclimate or destroy the vitality of the soil.
In the cellar, the principles remain exactly the same. We avoid any process that can alter the integrity of the fruit, and we follow the must in its natural and delicate process of transformation into wine without the aid of selected yeasts, starter, sulfur, or temperature control. The wines reflect their vintage, each year different and unrepeatable.

His father, Gian Domenico, took the family’s dedication further by starting to vinify their own grapes, producing wines that reflected the authenticity and tradition of the past. Davide, the third generation, grew up immersed in the rhythms of the vineyard, and in 1997, he decided to embark on a new path, embracing organic viticulture. With a deep respect for the land, Davide focused on reducing yields and encouraging the vines to take root in the nutrient-rich volcanic soil. His vision has transformed the family estate into a modern winery that remains connected to its heritage. Today, the winery, housed in a renovated cowshed from his grandfather’s time, stands as a testament to the family’s enduring love for the land and the traditions of Gambellara.
